Very simple, true. Much, if not most, of how things "swing" is under your own control and is determined by your own attitude. You can assert imagined special privilege, play the victim, choose to make things difficult for yourself, and sit in that old bathwater and sneer, whinge and blather nonsense. In that case, nothing will ever change. Or you can simply man up and learn to make the "swing" mostly smooth, pleasant, and enjoyable.
