Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin said today that he is open to all, including divergent opinions about the major land bridge project in southern Thailand and is expecting to meet with supporters and opponents during his second mobile cabinet meeting in Ranong province tomorrow.

The land bridge is a significant government logistics project, aimed at facilitating the transport of cargo, including oil, from Thailand’s west coast, in Ranong province, to its east coast, in Chumphon province, via a motorway, pipeline and rail system, enabling shippers to bypass the busy maritime choke point in the Strait of Malacca.

The prime minister said that the government is ready to explain the details and importance of the project to those who oppose it, for fear that it may cause environmental problems and threaten their livelihoods or fishing grounds, adding that his visit to Ranong is an indication that the government attaches importance to the local people and to their opinions.

Thailand is going down a slippery slope IMHO.

Look at a map. This will bypass the hostel countries to China. Philippines, Australia , Malaysia. Supplying oil,  and goods to and from China.

Oil imports to China, and from the Saudi:s, United Emirates , Pakistan , Iran , are picking up.

10-1 , this is bought and paid for by the CCP. When things get hostile they will have a direct pipeline to China.

Very interested in seeing how this goes. But, I bet it is put on a fast track.

Actually a good move by the CCP if it goes through.

Even more interesting to me is how Thailand is aligning with China in all things political.  Wow, if we ever see a conflict this is going to get pretty wild for Thailand.

You could see bombing of the pipeline, roads in Thailand. At the very least a strange explosion taking out the pipeline.

You expats are in for some fun times.

Let's get this straight, the PM is not "open to all opinions about the land bridge." He is open only to opinions that support the land bridge, all other opinions denigrating it as a stupid idea, will be immediately discarded.
