I think they were popular among backpackers originally as well. They've been popular in India for a long time as well.

Because there is a labour shortage in Thailand as well. The problem is of being underemployed rather than unemployed. In fact there is a labour shortage throughout Thailand.

mmmm intersting, I dont. I also dont look at the label with any expectation that it accurately gives the place of manufacture.
