Thai motorists demanded police take action against two foreign men riding electric unicycles, or e-unicycles, on a crowded road in the northern province of Chiang Mai.

The video of two foreign men riding the e-unicycles in Chiang Mai was shared on February 10 by a Facebook, Guru Guroo Chiang Mai. The caption read…

“Very dangerous! E-unicycles on Ring Road 2 near Payap University. Spot them at 12pm.”

The two foreign men were seen riding the e-wheels in the right lane of the road. Their practice is considered dangerous and illegal because the right lane is reserved for vehicles travelling at high speed. Furthermore, this type of vehicle is not allowed on Thai roads.

The Facebook page added that many motorists honked their horns to warn the two foreigners to move to the left lane or a footpath but the men ignored them. Thai netizens commented on the video asking the police to take action.

“Police must take this case seriously because other motorists will be in trouble if something happens to them.”

After vaping unicycles forbidden in Thailand?? The claim very dangerous??? but at least the men are wearing helmets, as a lot of motorcycles never do while speeding.

Another softpower to promote Thaiand?

Don't know enough about the issue, but I badly want to make a comment.

Wait I am thinking.

Stupid as that looks to be on the road like that, I'd have given them a warning before hitting them with 10,000 baht fines.

No sure about that, I see an E-Unicycle rider every morning at 6am on his way to work... I speak to him regularly if we stop at the nearby traffic lights.

There fixed that for them.

Same netizens that overtake you and cut in the road in front of you, or texting while driving, or driving overloaded pick ups. The list is endless, but we all know that Thai drivers are the best in the world...

Three years back a Thai thief( charged property fraud) with his yellow Porche was driving at very high speeds and killed two people on their motor bikes in Hang Dong. He had no mandatory  insurance & no tax.  He walked away free and wasn't fined.

Damned foreigners!

Just seems like another attack on foreigners   as Thais get away with so much more, every single minute of the day... yes warn them, regarding the correct lane  but I'd like to see the regulation stating unicycles are illegal.

The problem is that on those types of vehicles they should be the left of the left lane and not in the fast lane, not to mention those types of vehicles ar not permitted on a motorway. It's obviously a danger. These morons are going to get killed.

Well at least there on the road & not on the path & wearing helmets, i nearly got run over coming out of a shop in the u.k by some kid on an electric scooter!

I was walking along Jomtien's beach promenade several weeks back and some farang went zipping around me on one of those things and it was playing music.  He was just zipping around people left and right, an accident waiting to happen.

Those things are not meant for sidewalks or to be in traffic, basically they're a skateboard on steroids, keep them on bike paths/lanes.

Unless they were getting reading to make a right hand or U-turn, that is definitely the wrong place to be.   And I don't see any shoulder or intersection ahead .... you can't fix stupid.

Many members here are calling Thai's as "morons", giving then examples.

However these 2 foreigners are not following the Thai laws.

If I would drive in UK a pick-up with my crew of 4 or more workers as cargo..... it's against UK laws.

Are British then to be called "morons"?

If you live in a foreign country you have to accept, that there might be a lot of different rules to follow. Maybe some you're not able to understand. So accept the fine and pay the fine because of disregard Thai laws. (The disregard of Thai people is unfortunately not to be fined)

Love it.

You made me chuckle Thank you:smile:

I have to say, for a while, I thought there was a sudden influx of idiots coming to Thailand doing stupid things. After seeing this one, I think that the Thai media is on a mission to get rid of foreigners completely. It seems a bit petty this...

No , sorry to disappoint you but according to the article they are just going to get fined

Just stay off the road altogether!

Thai need the road to themselves since they dont know how to share the road. Then the suggestion 10,000 only land of stupidity can come up.

Those things and e scooters don't belong on the roads and they don't belong on footpaths.
