Hua Hin in decline? Jomtien makeover… not everyone is happy - Tim Newton Today - Feb 27

Thailand news - Joint operations between US and Thai Navy divers continue to 'salvage' the HTMS Sukhothai that sank 14 months ago in the Gulf of Thailand. Are the LONG and ongoing roadworks along Rama II causing a decline of Hua Hin as a weekend favourite for Thais (and foreigners generally)? Jomtien Beach is changing, and not necessarily for the better.

A new gun amnesty from the Thai government aims to get rid of many of the illegal weapons floating around, and the father of a young political activists is wanting his daughter, and her fellow-activist friend, released from custody whilst they are in poor health due to their hunger strike.

Tim Newton Today is a daily take on Thai and regional news and issues of interest to expats and foreign tourists.

Now would be time to restart that daily air shuttle from Bangkok to Hua Hin.

Maybe the reason for less tourists is about the bad air quality and nothing else? The elephant in the room...

Does it say who these tourist who is declaining came from? Chinese, European, middle eastern or Indian?

For sure European who used to travel to Hua Hin for the last 20 years and imvested homes there is very old now, and the new generation have been put off because of the high bath  compared to Euro, sek, nok ,,,,,,,,

Covid also prevented/deleyed newcomers for 2 - 3 years.

I mean, 1 nok used to be 6 bath +- 20 years ago, the last 7 years been around 3,3 on average.
