Current price of electricity to be extended until August – Energy Minister

Energy Minister Pirapan Salirathavibhaga offered an assurance today that electricity charges for May-August will not be higher than they are now, as the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) is holding an online public hearing to gauge opinions about the electricity rate.

Swiss man who allegedly assaulted Thai doctor faces additional charges

The Ministry of Interior will press additional charges against the Swiss national who allegedly kicked a female Thai doctor as she sat on the staircase of his rented villa in Phuket last week. The new charges relate to the possession of two handguns.

Tourists increase spending in Thailand despite soaring airfares

Despite higher airfares, foreign tourists are indulging in opulent accommodation choices, sending spending figures soaring, according to a recent Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) survey.

6 billion baht Ashton Asoke condo in Bangkok to be demolished

The Ashton Asoke condominium project, worth 6 billion baht (US$168 million), in Bangkok’s Watthana district is facing a potential demolition if a legal solution isn’t reached within the next three months, a court official has stated. The dispute stems from a Supreme Administrative Court ruling last July that cancelled the building permit for the property due to the inadequate width of the main entrance.

Declining conditions of Bangkok’s Klong Ong Ang raise concerns

A United Thai Nation Party‘s (UTN) Parliament member voiced concerns yesterday about the neglected state of Klong Ong Ang, a once thriving tourist attraction in the heart of Bangkok’s Chinatown. Kriangyot Sudlapha, a UTN list-MP, raised the issue in the House of Representatives, urging the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) to step in and rejuvenate the area.

Phuket governor calls for probe into Laem Nga beach blockade

Phuket Vice Governor Sattha Thongkham demanded a probe into the barricading of privately owned land at Lemg Nga, located at the northern edge of Koh Siray, which has obstructed public access to Laem Nga Beach.
