Where do you live? 10,000U a day should enough.

It is not safe to take more than about 800 IU Vitamin D daily, and 400 IU is enough for most people.

Did you mean to say weekly?

Did you drop a zero? The Vitamin D that my Doctor in the US recommended is 5000 IU (125mcg) per tablet. Twice a day

Never mind. I answered my own question. My Doctor has me taking well above what is generally recommended. I did have Vitamin D deficiency on my test results and I also have Type II Diabetes when he made the recommendation. The next time he checked Vit D levels I was at a proper level.

Sorry Sheryl. I wasn't questioning your knowledge but thought it might have been a typo.

I take 5,000 IU daily for half of the year. My wife takes 10,000 IU daily. I've been takig 5,000 IU / daily for 6 months of the year for almost 10 years.

Β

Doctors who recommend vitamin D often recommend around 5,000 IU / day.

Yes indeed weekly and meant to say 5,000IU. Am curious to know your medical qualifications and where you practised. I was a Consultant Paediatrician for 20 years at the West Yorkshire NHS Trust.
