Don’t kill the golden goose! Tax reforms may drive away expats
Mine do, everything is paid directly to Thailand. I only use my UK account to receive monthly rent payments from my agent and pay HMRC any tax due, Pluss 1, I am the same Uk pension paid directly to Thailand, UK account to receive rental income, most of that money I keep in the UK as spending for when I go back, a few weeks in the Uk can soon write off a 1000 GBP, and that does not include the return air fare. -

Trump Harris: Who won the debate ?
That was just one tiny instance that demonstrated an astonishing degree of ignorance that this man carried around every day while President, he refused to read the daily briefings, he refused to take the word of his National Security advisors, and he refused to listen to his military experts. Why? Because he always knows best, because he's always the smartest man in the room. That's what made him such an incredibly dangerous man, and that's just one of the reasons why he must be prevented from another 4 years. -

Aussie Savings Account Interest
Yep... people are generally not aware that the main entity and the wholly owned subsidiary share the guarantee, for example if you have 150k in both NAB and Ubank only 250k are covered by the guarantee, you are going to lose 50k if both fail. The interest rates as investment options are going to become less relevant in the not so distant future. The crappy Aussie economy is houses and holes, China now doesn't need so much our resources and the houses part doesn't work well with high interest rates. There is intense pressure on the Reserve Bank to start reducing the base interest rate. Not so good for the AUD/THB exchange rate, it is at nearly 2 years low. This article shows the "quality" of the recent employment figures: https://www.macrobusiness.com.au/2024/09/government-jobs-are-fuelling-australias-productivity-decline/ -

I thought Trump should have talked inflation more. Biden policies were 42% responsible according to MIT report. It was not all covid. Unemployment is 4.2%, was 3.5% in 2019. Trump should have repeated this more. -

Sure, it's here: "Donald Trump left us the worst public health epidemic in a century." https://abcnews.go.com/Politics/harris-trump-presidential-debate-transcript/story?id=113560542 To blame Trump for the Covid pandemic, is frankly beyond moronic.- 1

What's the Longest Snake You've Seen, while Waltzing along City Streets in Thailand?
In the city, ~12ft python along canal road. Ran over a ~16ft python, maybe bigger and it was fat, on my bike @ 1am in morning heading north on the cm 700 road in the thasala area, going to fast to stop or swerve, stood up on the pegs and hammered down and kept going. Other than that, seen quite a few snakes slithering in the city mostly during the night and mostly just see the tail end slithering off into some cover. -

Trump Harris: Who won the debate ?
You certainly raise an interesting point, there's nothing about him that's presidential, and there was nothing about him that was presidential during the four years he was president. He was truly a disgrace to the office with the way that he behaves, and the extraordinary lack of dignity, grace, and elegance the man possesses. At this point it's really just a question of the independents and the ones who are undecided, because it just does not seem like anything that happens, or anything he says is going to sway them. They're going to support him come hell or high water. They are defending the nation against communism!!- 1

I thought Trump finished very strong when he said "She's been in office almost 4 years, why has she not done it?", after Kamala made all the promises. But before that it went a bit awry with pets. -

The debate thread.
I can't find anything in the transcript re: blaming Trump for Covid......do you have it? This is all I could find..... But what Donald Trump did let's talk about this with COVID, is he actually thanked President XI for what he did during COVID. Look at his tweet. "Thank you, President XI," exclamation point. When we know that XI was responsible for lacking and not giving us transparency about the origins of COVID. -
