So living here for over TWO decades { will be made to wear a MASK should I visit a Holiday Spot o stop what the transmission of a disease I picked up in my current home town 600 odd KMs away from Bangkok .

Please can someone with a BRAIN educate the The Thai Government employee that thought this up , Maybe enter them into the Guiness Book of world records for stupidity 

Right now and in the foreseeable future more people will die in Thailand from the smoke and pollution problem rather than any disease.

Lets all share this as much as possible to all of our countries, so that everyone at home can buy good quality masks to ensure our Thai friends are protected.

The only question it raises is one of competence. 

you also have to remember this is a country that thinks Covid is still dangerous

Living in CM I am wearing my PM 2.5 mask outside already.

I'm all for this initiative,  I think it's a fantastic forward thinking idea , I hope its implemented immediately. ( cheques in the post Khun A).

There is nothing like the feeling of pulling out the old pistol and aiming it at the foot.  This mask move is bound to play right into the "hate foreigners" playbook. If this gains traction, it could easily spiral into a nightmare for everyone. It's time to wake up the boys at the top and urge action. Someone needs to be reassigned to a "quiet" posting in upper Thailand before this situation escalates further.  Just say it was a misunderstanding, a language barrier problem; you know.

Far better to say ALL overseas arrivals regardless of nationality must wear face masks for 10 days or so

Stupid idea, expect it to wither on the vine.

In the accompanying picture, the masks being handed out are surgical masks.

Surgical masks are worn to prevent the wearer transmitting their germs etc. 

They should be giving out N95 masks to protect the valuable tourists/farang.

Next they'll want us to wear rubber gloves in tourist pubs.

Could also be a way to generate fines. It would be easy for local police to fine a handful in any crowd and supplement their income as the economy gets worse. It's all about the money usually.

How could that conceivably be enforced though? Once out the airport there’s nothing identifying a new arrival.

This kind of thing—it is xenophobia, pure and simple—is the absolute worst in Thais. It doesn’t matter what colour my skin is, if I’ve lived here for years on end, there is nothing I will have that a Thai person won’t already have. They’re always harping on about image, but it is this type of discriminatory behaviour that harms the image of Thailand. This guy should sew a swastika on his sleeve. Let’s hope tourists get the message and go to Vietnam instead where they value their visitors. 

On a recent trip to hospital couldn’t help but notice a number of Thai people without masks or using them as chin slings. At hospital.

i have no problem wearing a mask despite COPD and asthma.

That said I believe this latest bureaucratic boondoggle is rooted in Asian xenophobia.

The world-wide pandemic of Covid 19 came from the Chinese.  Therefore I propose that all Chinese citizens in Thailand and all Thai people of Chinese descent in Thailand be forced to wear masks and a large badge in Chinese, Thai and English that says "Stay away, I am unclean".

Clickbait?  I'll believe this if/when they enforce this where I live. In any case, to help prevent covid, everybody must wear masks in public, not just a few select people..

Too expensive with normal tourist numbers. They'd just use a wristband with some ridiculous fine for removing it.
