Report Power Outage in Spain and Portugal Sparks Energy Security Debate in Thailand
Pretty sure they can shut down anything they make that has an internet connection. Home inverters, phones, remote operated switches, cars ..... the list is endless. But equally sure they wouldn't dare, unless as a last resort starting TEOTWAWKI.- 1

The Left versus Right False Dichotomy, and "The tyranny of contrived opposites"
Show me an elected official, and I'll show you a tyrant. The tyrant may be of the striped or spotted variety, but a tyrant nonetheless. Only a tyrant would seek to be elected to a position of power. Only a tyrant would believe they know how to manage your life better than you do yourself. Democracy is a double-edged sword. Liberty (supposedly) on one side, tyranny on the other. Regardless, (quoting John Stuart Mill), democracy can take only three forms - the tyranny of the minority, the tyranny of the majority, or the tyranny of custom and tradition. We had the latter until about 30 years ago and then it all went to hell in a handcart. -

Tourism Thailand Vows to End Dual Pricing Amid Growing Tourist Backlash
It's never worked for me and I speak fluent Thai, have a pink government Thai ID card and Thai drivers license. I have also worked in Thailand for 25 years paying Thai government tax (that gets used for maintaining national parks...) in all that time. Nope! I need to show them a Thai National ID card (บัตรประจำตัวประชาชน) otherwise I pay the "farang" rate. -

Importing personal belongings
It is pretty sad that you still have to pay tax on importing personal belongings. Another form of tariffs. I seems near impossible to buy good stereo equipment in Thailand, if you're not living near Bangkok. I would love to bring over my partly selfmade made stereo, but they are very heavy. I don't want to pay import tax on it .
