Big C and Topps will jack up the price imminently

Is your pantry storage large enough?  Get 'em while they're hot.  Sadly, even delivery numbers often show up short, but hand carrying is a final option.

No clue why the 17% price hike at L.

The Cheap Charlie exit is right around the corner.

  • Sadly, I remember when TVF was full of helpful posters suggesting ways around visa restrictions.  Cheapest border runs, most helpful schools for an ED, easiest border to cross...    Nowadays

  • Make your own, It's not hard. cost about half the price they are in the shops. plus you can regulate the sugar in them.

If you look on the tin it will say Net weight 425g, drained weight 240g, so not far from half, even more expensive beans will have 300g+

You're starting to make me miss home.  I can't wait to get a double helping of New Orleans red beans and rice with a link or two of grilled andouille.

I used to buy lentils and I think the price almost doubled

Lentils are still cheap on Lazada and there's a good variety available too - particularly from the Indian sellers

Buy tuna. Much higher protein less farting.

Branston Beans, Lazada, are my new go to.....69B (at times).....tins look like someone played football with them.

Can't give up my Lurpak or mature cheddar, life in Isaan would become truly intolerable.

Navy beans, still 50bht for 500g in Makro.

Makes about 1,200gm (or more) baked beans after rehydration.

About the easiest cooking I've ever done

Put beans in rice cooker, cook once or twice to rehydrate (test if bean is soft enough)

Drain, add Rosa tomato sauce (I find Heinz tomato sauce too sweet), simmer for 5 to 10 minutes.

Perfect baked beans every time.

How much Rosa? and water? doesn't seem to be enough water as the rice cookers job is burn off the water

They know westerners love this so they cheat in inflating the prices for the Golden Goose.

Not really, only certain nationalities love it. It is loved especially by people from the UK. Not so common in other European countries in my opinion.

I just add Rosa until the beans look wet enough, 1/4 to 1/3 of the big bottle.

Lots of tuna is made in Thailand.

Big C 39 baht for a good few weeks now

Heinz beans 89 baht in Big C

Coming to something when retired expats can't afford baked beans.

Buy big can Hienz only 300bht for 3.15 kilos. I open put in sealed containers and freezer 2 serve size. Get out day before using and move to fridge department. Easy and cheap 45bht for 440gms.

That's the ratio beans to sauce for all tins of baked beans I've seen around, and always has been, and that includes the brands sold in the UK.

In fact the Ayam ratio is correct, while Brooks, Fiamma and Heinz have less beans than stated on the tin.

I know because I always remove the sauce and eat the beans only.

I believe Makro call them 'white kidney beans'?
Instead of using tomato sauce, I blend a tin of Brooks tinned tomatoes, adding tomato puree to taste. I dislike a sugary taste as well. I also cook the five-bean dry mix available at Makro, the same way, adding various herbs to taste. Lovely jubbly!

I don't mind paying the price of Heinz baked beans made in China taste very good have on toast

You only live once enjoy the food you enjoy 🥳

Look for a recipe and make it by yourself. No need to complain
