The Cheap Charlie exit is right around the corner.

  • Sadly, I remember when TVF was full of helpful posters suggesting ways around visa restrictions.  Cheapest border runs, most helpful schools for an ED, easiest border to cross...    Nowadays

  • Make your own, It's not hard. cost about half the price they are in the shops. plus you can regulate the sugar in them.

Lots of tuna is made in Thailand.

How do they make tuna ?

Heinz beans in Big C Pattaya Klang 69 baht some times reduced to 59baht, a few months ago it was but one get one free.

I can't believe that anyone would remember the price of a tin of beans! The O/P must be a very serious 'bean counter'.

bakes bean Ayam brand jumped to 169 for three from 135 at Macro,

For reference:

AYAM baked beans are no longer available in Cambodia. Since the border issues with Thailand, all Thai products and produce are banned and boycotted.
The selection is now much better and baked beans on my local supermarket shelves come from Heinz, Tesco (UK), CO-OP (UK) and Morrisons (UK). There are also various EU brands.

Maybe he checked on the internet or has just returned from a trip to his home country

Just boil the <deleted> out of 500g dry pintos for a few hours then mix in some tomato sauce/ketchup+ sugar = 63+b = ~4cans

So for less than 20b per can, you should be able to make your own Boston Baked Beans

The secret history of baked beans

https://share.google/9RG1T0rYbvLFgiTXy

The beans first arrived in the UK in 1886 [from Heinz in Pittsburgh, USA]

SUCK IT 😀

Me too - I'm in UK so the price isn't the issue, but I'd love to see your recipe if you feel like posting it.

Ohh, ok.

So they do not make the tuna.

My first attempt was excellent, my next two attempts were average, schoolboy error of not being exact with ingredients, next time I'll try britman2 method which he mentions in this thread

Thanks 👍

Slightly offtopic2 and rather flippantly, but I cook a lot of Asian food, mainly Thai and Bangla and usually start with a basic recipe, then add / subtract according to whim, tasting as i go.

That way i can cook the same dish 3 times and it's always a surprise!

Maybe I should open a restaurant called "Surprise, Surprise" with every meal a new experience for the customers 🤔😉😊

Tuna is made in the ocean. You do know it is a fish? Or have you been to a tuna orchard in your travels all over Thailand?

AYAM were around 2.50 $US (84 Thai baht) per can and among the least expensive BUT they are no longer available in Cambodia being a banned Thai product.

First i quit cheese then butter because price silly, but that's ok as they make you fat. Now bakes bean Ayam brand jumped to 169 for three from 135 at Macro, just not worth it anymore. As a comparison in Tesco UK a large tin is 45p

You might check many info on the web (youtube) about cheese and butter making you fat. Not very true.

Besides, check out the Heinz beans, taste is better and sauce more dense.

Is that not what the roadside stalls do when the add the previous days leftovers to whatever they have available for todays offerings?

It is also what most places do with their Soup/Dish of the day!

Just leftovers remixed into a non recipe item.

In the 70's and 80's there was a company that did a train run to Penang weekly to collect groceries from Penang, primarily to service restaurant owners in Pattaya of Western items unavailable locally. Unfortunately to to the rising standard of living in Malaysia this service lost it's cost advantage. As a 450 g tin of baked beans is available today at the equivalent of 34 baht in Malaysia, perhaps the service could be restarted. Today I spent 1550 baht in Big C. Exactly the same items in Cold Storage Singapore would be 1400 baht. In Lotus Malaysia it was 1360 baht. In Asda UK it was 998 baht using current exchange rates.

does the train go to asda
