Popular Post snoop1130
Hotels rooms in Chiang Mai are currently about 70% booked, many of them by foreign tourists, despite the worsening PM2.5 problem, according to Patsin Sawetrat, director of the Tourism Authority Authority’s Chiang Mai office. While admitting that the smoke from forest fires may affect tourism, she said that it occurs during the dry season every year and she expects increased hotel occupancy during the Songkran festival, from April 12 to April 16. Expected revenue from tourism during Songkran in Chiang Mai is estimated at about 1.2 billion baht, she said, adding that the TAT office has performed a “sacred” water ceremony at nine temples to bless the city and its people. Popular Post ChaiyaTH
Unfazed? The city is as death as the air quality is. Songkran is going to be a joke, with mainly cheap locals in pick up trucks, making up the traffic for a busy appearance. One must actually have lost their mind if going here on holidays for songkran right now. These hotel booking figures are absolute garbage, I guess it is counted from a select few hotels and resorts. 70% booked my ass, Chiang Mai would experience insane traffic jams, super full packed places everywhere, if that would ever be the case. It's funny too: every time they come up with these hotel percentages, it is always 60 or 70 %, must be magic. Any Thai with the option, is running away from Chiang Mai for a cleaner air location, already. I can remember some Thai lady working for TAT in Chiang Mai, at few years ago, she was the least intelligent and informed person I ever met. jippytum
Rubbish story .Tourists and residents being choked to death in the most polluted place on earth .The only people that are unfazed are people like the prime minister who still will not declare the city a disaster area and provide government assistance to those suffering.
