Popular Post ChaiyaTH
The irony with all these Thais being so worried about their jobs when a farang is doing it, is kind of funny, specially knowing that it is usually illegal people from Myanmar doing these jobs, as no Thai wants to do them in the first place, or does half the job if they do it. Many things do not even exist here, because the creativity lacks as it is not allowed for foreigners to do anything here themselves. Meanwhile the Thais usually stick to copying other places with the average street image being: 100 massage shops, 100 barbershops, 100 coffeeshops, 100 tattoo shops. Lol, this is like one of the most innocent examples compared to real life daily things that happen. I would be the least worried about the comedian fiction from Bob. I would be the least worried about the comedian fiction from Bob. We're talking about about a posting pattern which almost invariably casts Thais in a negative light. In this example, the Thai person is being depicted as nosy, bossy, menacing, and authoritative. You call it comedic fiction, which I agree it is, but you're overlooking the truth that the "comedy" is at the expense of Thais and Thailand, and not everyone on the forum is aware that it is fiction. Indeed, there are many here, including the OP, who continually insist that these anecdotes actually occurred. The other issue I have is that the Bob Smith ASEANNOW persona endeavors to normalize and glamorize what I consider to be a very maladjusted expat lifestyle (heavy drinking, pot smoking, marital infidelity, domestic tempestuousness, paranoia, simmering resentment, constant clashes and friction with neighbors) which reflects poorly on the Thailand expat community as a whole. Popular Post Dioj
The other day I was pulling myself off. A Thai girl came over and insisted that I was taking away her job and that I must hire her to do the task at hand if I want to avoid any misfires. I explained that I know what is needed and see no reason to hire someone that doesn't know how to raise the fly sheet. I am also not a good employer, so to avoid a problem I decided to stop and just ordered another beer. Note to self: Don't snap off in bars. Wait until I am back home where I can pay my wife only a few quid to do it for me after her Thai boyfriend has left my house. 1

I rarely encounter a negative interaction with any Thai people, thats not to suggest a negative interaction never happens, but a negative encounter is not an common experience. 14 minutes ago, BritManToo said: Can't really see any other way to view them. I have been told today that I can’t do it without a work permit. regards, bob. Technically the juristic girl is correct. I knew a farang several years ago who was painting the boundary fence to his property who was arrested and deported for working without a permit. Even after being able to prove to the police that it was his residence it made no difference. He was also given the taking work off a Thai explanation as well as the no work permit line. Now I do know that he was not popular with the Thais in his neighborhood because of his superiority attitude towards them, and it's a certainty one of the locals reported him. So I would suggest you be on your very best behavior instead of your what appears to be usual attitude towards Thais otherwise you might find yourself in the same position. I would also agree with others on here that your post is just another one of your delusional troll posts.

It's BS. I painted the rice barn in my back garden 5 years ago when coincidentally 4 IO officers came round checking visas, they were impressed with my work, my missus told them that I had been on the roof that morning cleaning the rain gutters, one of the officers (20 years younger than me) said he could use me at his house as he wasn't fit enough for that type of work. However this is Isaan, things seem to be more relaxed here and nobody gives a $hit what I do, especially in a farming village. During the harvest I am also in the fields helping out, nobody has ever said a word.
