DragonFire has been tested in real time!

The article is about the weapon system and the potential speeding up the horrendously lengthy UK military procurement procedures!

Star Wars was a scheme to develop an orbital X-Ray laser powered by a nuclear explosion. A bit of a pipe dream.

 

The proposed alternative was "point defense" - short range missiles located at areas to be defended. Places like Israel.
