impulse
I make it worse on myself because I wear shoes, long pants and a collared shirt whenever I go out in public in Thailand. I acclimate myself by not even turning on the A/C on the days I plan to be outside most of the day. More accurately, I set the A/C at about 28, just to knock out the humidity so the place (hotel nowadays) doesn't get musty. If hotel rooms had oscillating fans, that's what I'd use at night, but they usually don't. That's what I use to sleep at home, even in the heat of summer. It's amazing what you (I) can become acclimated to and find perfectly acceptable. Sitting inside all day in the A/C isn't on that list. I'd rather be out and about, even in the heat with my long pants. Getting acclimated is a lot like getting on an exercise program. It sucks for a day or so, but then I find myself happier when that gets to be the normal. Edited April 17 by impulse

Popular Post Old Croc
So, you're living (voluntarily?) in a country that you find too hot for your comfort, you find chlorinated swimming pool temperatures not to your liking, and are even afraid to venture onto the roads, You decided to start a thread on a local expat forum to whinge about the aforementioned and reacted with anger because you got the inevitable advice to leave for somewhere you'll find more suitable. If you were looking for platitudes and God blessed wishes you should become an American YouTuber, not seek it on AseanThaiger.

Of course compared to most home countries it is but not remotely at the levels of Dubai Kuwait etc etc Just stay out of the sun between 11am and 3pm if you find it too hot Me I love it the hotter the better Bangkok is the hottest capital city in the world (source, W.G.O). Yes Kuwait and UAE are hotter in the summer but not so from December to May. Bangkok's mean annual average temperature is 28.6°c. Kuwait and UAE are below this.

Angry? Pissed off? If you aren't comfortable where you are, you move. If you have no wife or kids, it's easier to relocate. I'm only biding my time until I can leave with my daughter to go back to the US. If I could leave today, I would. many people say they like where they are, but rarely leave the house because it's too hot, too cold, too wet, dangerous on the roads, fear of violence. I came from Texas, where it's hotter on average than here, but where I lived there was lower humidity . This besides the hundred more reasons i belong back there. Being trapped indoors because of some reason much of the time makes you a hermit, and that's not enjoying life. remember what you enjoy, and go where you will enjoy it. Thailand is okay for some people, but with all the complaints, and many warranted, some belong elsewhere. Pros and cons everywhere, so weigh the positives against the negatives, then decide what's keeping you in a place you aren't comfortable.

Good auto insurance etc, but we still know. Praying for rain. Up here in Isaan the daily temperature is at least 40 c every day . Fans do nothing but blow hot air on you . I normally go to my office at 10 am with intermittent aircon . Many of my friends do the same and even my Thai lady surrenders to my office to cool down . Now when the temperature drops next month to the mid thirties , I can resume my normal activities . I know several Europeans who leave Thailand for a couple of months at this time of the year . Some Europeans can tolerate the heat better than others . I used to bask in the Turkish sun ( temperature mid 40s ) but not now . As for driving , I kind of understand but I have adopted the " never assume anything " when driving in Thailand . Have a dash cam installed . Swimming ? maybe try to get to a safe Thai beach for a couple of weeks ?

Spending the entire rest of the day watching porno ( other stuff ) Edited April 18 by alex8912 1

Doors/windows open all day every day. I only close the windows when it rains. That has not happened for the last four months. Ceiling fans on low 24/7 and a 'floor' fan for the really hot, no-wind days. I have only run the bedroom a/c three times this year - for an hour each time. I find it hard to accept you're not having AC on during this heat? Your house must be roasting, don't care how many windows or doors are open or how much of a breeze you have. Lemme see. Do this: Build yourself a gaming battlestation. Many more examples here on a forum devoted to them: https://www.reddit.com/r/battlestations/ Hyperactive teenagers spend countless happy hours at their battlestations playing video games. Granmas play them; you can too. Good for your brain: slow the cognitive decline. Create a lil' home gym with a TRX, weight bench and coupla dumbbells, a few resistance bands, and an exercise bike. Watch Bodyfit by Amy vids. You got all the aircon you need, music, and videos. Get ripped, man; buy a new fitness wardrobe. Have a great sleep every night. Impressive all the wimmens whenever you deign to leave your condo. Should keep you occupied and enhance the quality of your posts on the forum.
