gamb00ler
I have an irrigation pump that has blown the "motor run capacitor" twice now. Both capacitors were rated as 30µF 450VAC 50/60Hz. The last one only lasted 2 months. The pump usually only starts once a day, but sometimes up to 4 times. Are there different grades of capacitors that I can use? What is a good brand available easily? Would a 45µF 440 VAC 50/60Hz be advisable and would it last longer? I'm obviously don't know much about these matters... LOL. Popular Post Crossy
Check you are actually using the correct capacitor; the value is usually on the pump rating plate. I wouldn't go more than 15% either way on value. If the pump is in the open, give it some shade, these things really don't like the heat. Generally, with capacitors you do tend to get what you pay for, so more expensive units may be longer-lived than the el-cheapo no-name units. 1

Get a good quality part for the replacement ........... from where?? ........try a reputable pump dealer, not the corner store. 1
