Inside the cover of August's Extra magazine there are a couple of articles about a new decoder (TrueVisions PVR) that allows you to have more control over your viewing needs, just like the Uk's Sky plus system. ie, record individual shows or even an entire series from the on-screen menu, replay live tv (Tivo style) etc .

The web link shown does not work but a quick (20 minute) call to UBC (Truevisions) revealed that they don't have all the details about it but it will be coming in September....maybe. No info whether it will have a better quality picture or allow broadcast of wide-screen shows, Hi-Def etc. But this surely has to be a step in the right direction.

ESPN and Star Sports are back in the magazine's schedule, although they said there was no news about the long term contract with them. Still no word on whether there definately will be an English comentry for the football. It looks like ESPN and Star will not be showing any EPL football as their schedule is broadcasting Baseball instead on a Saturday night.

They will need a real working EPG (month ahead not 1 hour)..

Been telling them that for years.. Even offered to work with them to create an XMLTV listing..

Head in the sand of course.

EPL football is to be on Truevisions own channels.

According to the website there will be bilingual commentary. All big 4 teams (as they call them) are to be shown on the Gold package.

Hopefully this will all pan out.

They told me that the last world cup would have English through the decoder box, but it didn't happen.

There is an XML schedule out there somewhere with the months UBC listings, be good if UBC did their own one though.

If you see that again.. Send me the link can ya ben..

A PVR in XML TV would work on my PC system and make me a happy camper.
