How To Use Skype For Net Browser On Mobile Phone?

Recommended Posts

hi all:

Can this be done, or what is best way to do this??? ( or am I thinking crazy stuff!!)

Can Skype be used through Net Browser on Mobile phone?

Now I do not have any fancy mobile phones...

I got a blackberry 7000 something or other than was top of the line about 3 years back.

got AIS GSM ADVANCE monthly bill service here, and use it to pul/push emails.

and I got Noikia old 6610i and its set up for GRPS and MMS. but just 12 call credit pay as u go.

So does this work: open up internet browser, go to skype.com log in and can I make a call?

do I need head set to do it?

or are my phones not the right type for this.

Another question:

That Blackberry 7000 what ever it is almost 3 years old ... if I was to get rid of that , and get a more upto date

mobile phone , now my outcome is for good email, and internet for business, I got an online ASP CRM database for my contact management etc, if that could be access over net on a mobile.. it would be amazing for me ( and if you can use cheap skype calls over it??) what sort of mobile would you recommend? price? etc

I am not interested in "toys" features like Movies and Video games, I hate that crap on phones... I want something that I could take my work in my pocket!

Thanks

Gerry

referring to Skype on your mobile phone.

You need to go to skype.com and download the application for your mobile phone. Just make sure that it works with the phone you have, as you need to have a fast enough processor for it to work (ie my dopod 818pro is not fast enough).

Good luck

making voice calls over GPRS wont get u an acceptable quality.

get a phone/pda which supports wifi, use wifi connection to make calls over skype... in most crowded areas u can find some unsecured wifi to use.

Thanks for info. I will investigate this more this week.

My Ireland VOIP provider ( I have Irish Dublin VOIP phone number for my work in ireland) said

Nokia N and E series, some of those phones will work with VOIP. so I will check this out.

Just wanted to add....my Ireland VOIP phone company said VOIP & SIP must be supported and Nokia N & E does this.

I am waiting now to hear from my CRM database company, I use an online ASP database to keep client details & docs related to various clients, good thing about this, is it is online so I can get in on the move. That for me ( as a techie dunce.. jus about can check my voicemail and send emails!), means pulling into Wifi if I have laptop lugging around with me or internet cafe.

So if I can accesss this ASP online database with speed over mobile internet + ireland VOIP ( & skype as back up), I will literally have my office in my pocket.
