Aggravated-Assault-1024x678.jpg

A 43-year-old Burmese woman, identified as Mo, and her three daughters fell victim to a violent attack by a group of over 10 transgender teenagers at a fruit festival in Trat province's public park, Thailand on Saturday, May 25. Mo lodged a complaint against the teenagers and presented a video, given to her by a witness, as evidence of the assault.

Mo's daughters, aged 17, 14, and 6, were hurt in the incident. According to Mo, they had gone to the festival when they found themselves being verbally harassed by the group of teenagers using disrespectful language. The verbal misbehavior soon turned into a physical group attack on the mother and her children.

Nevertheless, the assault was halted by the prompt intervention of witnesses who immediately alerted police officers from Borrai station. The victims were swiftly transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.

The assault affected Mo's oldest daughter, Ruay, most severely with multiple bruises and injuries over her body and face, with her left eye particularly swollen. The other victims suffered minor injuries.

The 14-year-old daughter, known as Ae, informed Channel 3 that the attackers attend the same school as her and her siblings – Borrai Wittayakhom School. Ae also said she had a clash with these transgender teenagers a week before, which she believed had been resolved through a teacher's intervention. Hence, she was surprised when they once again targeted her, escalating their actions from words to violence.

As of now, the police have not disclosed any details about their ongoing investigation or the identities of the attackers.
