Trump Vows to Crush Pro-Palestinian Protests if Re-Elected

Former President Donald Trump has declared his intention to crack down on pro-Palestinian protests on university campuses if he wins the 2024 presidential election. Addressing a group of wealthy donors, primarily Jewish, Trump characterized the demonstrations against Israel’s war in Gaza as part of a "radical revolution." He promised that his administration would roll back the movement by "25 or 30 years" if re-elected, according to the Washington Post, which first reported the event.

“If you get me re-elected, we’re going to set that movement back 25 or 30 years,” Trump assured the donors. He also stated that his administration would expel any foreign students involved in the protests, which have recently taken the form of tented encampments on college campuses across the United States. During the meeting in New York on May 14, Trump responded to concerns from a donor who feared that students and faculty participating in the protests could eventually occupy influential positions in the US. Praising the New York police for dismantling the encampments at Columbia University, Trump urged other cities to adopt a similar approach, emphasizing, “It has to be stopped now.”

Republicans have increasingly highlighted campus protests as an election issue, portraying them as a sign of "chaos" during President Joe Biden’s tenure. Congressional Republicans have held hearings on Capitol Hill to emphasize the trend, focusing on reports of antisemitism among protesters and accusing university presidents of failing to address it adequately.

Israel Palestinians Protests

At a recent hearing, GOP members criticized the presidents of Northwestern and Rutgers universities for negotiating voluntary dismantlements of the encampments rather than involving the police, as Trump suggested.

Trump's comments to the donors also marked a shift in his stance on Israel’s offensive in Gaza. After months of ambivalence, he expressed support for Israel's "war on terror." Previously, he had noted that Israel was "losing the PR war" due to its actions in Gaza, where more than 36,000 Palestinians have been killed in an operation launched in retaliation for a deadly Hamas assault in October, which resulted in around 1,200 Israelis being killed and another 253 being taken hostage. Speaking to Israel Hayom newspaper in March, Trump had said, “You have to finish up your war … You gotta get it done,” while also calling for Israel to "get back to peace and stop killing people."

At the donor meeting, Trump, who joked about the presence of “98% of my Jewish friends,” did not mention Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu by name, reflecting his ongoing resentment over Netanyahu's recognition of Biden’s 2020 election victory. However, Trump highlighted his pro-Israel policies, including moving the US embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem and recognizing Israel’s annexation of the Golan Heights, which Israel captured from Syria in the 1967 Six-Day War.

Trump’s pledges to his donors underscore his commitment to a hardline stance against pro-Palestinian activism and his enduring support for Israeli policies, reflecting his broader strategy to galvanize his base and secure crucial support for his re-election campaign.

It figures that out of the many possible reasons to disapprove of Netanyahu, Trump managed to find a rare instance where Netanyahu actually behaved honorably.

Thank goodness we have Biden wanting to fly in thousands of Palestinian refugees to help with the protests!!! (and the Michigan vote....)

A much better plan than leaving them to slaughtered by Israel and the IDF.

If any innocent people die or are injured, you can always rely on Netanyahu to say that it was a "tragic error", and most probably EX president Trump to open his mouth and agree with Netanyahu and his murderous Zionist war cabinet.

There you go with yet more barefaced lies.

Refugees are not citizens, they don’t have a vote.

We have arrived at a time in which a rightwing politician accepting the stone cold fact of an election result is considered to be ‘behaving honorably’.

More honorable than your mob demanding a second vote when the first Brexit vote went the 'wrong' way.

Or are you still trying to forget about that? 😃

No Jonny I have not forgotten.

The vote was accepted and the UK did leave the EU, but as Farage himself said

"In a 52-48 referendum this would be unfinished business by a long way. If the Remain campaign win two-thirds to one-third that ends it."

Accepting the vote and continuing to campaign is, as Farage demonstrates, all part of democracy.

Comparing that to Trump infighting an attack on the Capitol only demonstrates how predictably ill informed you are.

A feeble attempt to divert.

You said you find it amazing that accepting an election result is considered 'honorable' i.e. it should be a given.

Yet you spent years on here supporting overturning the Brexit vote with a "second referendum" or "people's vote".  😃

Does he think the conflict will still be going on next January? If it is I doubt that a few pro Palestinian, will still be few. Actually, I reckon the IDF will run out of Palestinians to bomb "by accident" by then.

Either way, he isn't going to be able to do anything till then.

You, of course, would prefer ALL the Palestinians be slaughtered and the genocide to continue.

Even you know that refugees are not allowed to vote.

It seems that you are prepping your excuses why Trump will lose in November ("the refugees that Biden brought in voted for Biden").

People in Michigan that want the refugees vote, but of course you know that.

You, of course, a Hamas supporter would prefer Hamas kill every Jew in Israel, and then be brought to the US as refugees to kill everyone Jew in the US, followed by every Christion.

Cracking down on freedom of speech is not good.

It's not speech that needs to be cracked down on, it is the illegal activity that goes along with it.

As usual you are talking rubbish.

I am not and never have been a supporter of Hamas.

Of the Palestinian people, I am 100% a supporter.

However to a blinkered Zionist genocidal supporter there is NO difference between a Hamas terrorist and an innocent Palestinian man, woman, child or a baby. The Zionists want to kill them all, and then they wonder why the majority of the world dislikes them.
