Statistics in EU show when Thai lady gets divorced she NEVER re-marry an other farang......

But she is happy to stay there - alone 🙂

So, in a way you are correct!

What statistics would these be?  I personally know several Thai women that have remarried with westerners after divorce and a few more who married again with westerners after being widowed,

"Tourists wishing to work and sightsee can now be issued five-year visas for stays that last up to 180 days, which can be extended for another 180 days. Previously, they were only permitted to stay twice for 30 days each. "These new rules target digital nomads, remote workers, freelancers, as well as those interested in learning Muay Thai and Thai cuisine," Mr. Chai explained."

Then why on earth should I continue with OA-based extensions (66K transferred per month, mandatory health insurance), when I can become a "digital nomad" and get what amounts to essentially full-time entry for 5 years?

is anybody suggesting that you should continue with an OA.

Read the thread again and get back to us. Saves me time.

You could have saved yourself even more  time by simply ignoring and  not replying to my post. I was neither quoting nor even addressing you.    I cannot understand the thought process that results in comments like the above

It won't just kill elite and ltr, but every visa like retirement, marriage, investment visas, permanant residents, education visas, eec special visas, boi visas, who the hell

would want the hassles of the other visas, when you can get a 5 year visa so easily for cooking, muay thai, nomads

I mean why only hate on Elite, when every long term visa class would be affected

June 1st now, lets see

Why only hate on the elite?

Which other visa is payable upfront with a five to twenty year expiry and costs minimum 900,000 baht?

Only the LTR has a long life and it’s a fraction of the price, as are all the other visas.

Thats why

There is no more 12month Non Immmigrant O Visa based on retirement (min 50J) ??

I see its only available for 90 days max only.  Correct?

I answered this in other thread you asked.

This attached thread seems to indicate almost extinct species.

Haven't even seen recent reports of them even from Savannakhet.

Places like London eVisa removed them from menu.

Savannahket were still issuing the Non Imm O ME based on retirement up to a few months ago with proof of 800K, although not listed on their website, which I'm guessing will now have to be in a Thai bank account for 2 months. You'd have to call them to confirm.

I personally rang the Consulate back in January on behalf of a disabled acquaintance (partially deaf) and they informed it was still available, although not listed on their website.

I knew of two regular visitors (oil workers) that obtained it the previous year with 800K in their foreign bank account.

Likewise, I suspect with the recent changes, those funds would now have to be in a Thai bank account if it's still available.

You'd have to call to confirm its availability and financial requirements.

If those funds now have to be in a Thai bank, then it defeats the object, and you may as well apply for the 1-year extension of stay.

Last report I see is May of last year - but may still be available.  That guy used a pension-letter - though I don't see why a bank-book + bank-letter + statement would not work - IF they still offer the 1-Year ME based on Retirement, at all.

They've always accepted bank statements/ pension letters as proof of income/funds.

Previously, the funds could be in any bank, anywhere, based on retirement, but with the recent changes just as for the ME Non Imm O based on Thai spouse, I suspect the funds now have to be in a Thai bank account.
