I can't find any sites to update my existing installation of Jan '07. Most of the Thai imagery is extremely low quality outside of Bangkok and Pattaya. Would higher resolution pictures download automatically on an old install, or should I re-install Google Earth periodically? Thanks.

Does google earth work as well on a mac as on a pc? Initially it didn't work at all on a mac?

(Another instance of apparent discrimination by google is that gmail doesn't give me the panel of basic word edit functions (capital, italic, underline, etc) on my mac - whereas I'm sure it does on a pc.)

Yaa, it works great on a mac, don't know about Gmail, but I downloaded Firefox as well, and all is fine!

Updating the program does not change the images as they are downloaded from google's server.

You can try pointasia, the Thai version of google earth. They have completely different images!

Thanks a lot! Pointasia imagery is way better than crappy old Google's. But the search interface is total cr@p. It can't even find 'Bangkok'. It's in Thai, but I can read it. Can you make the search function work?

It does on my Gmail. I get the toolbar when I use "Compose Mail." Maybe this has to do with your browser or your OS. I'm using Firefox 2.0.0.5 and Tiger 10.4.10, latest upgrades.

I notice that Google Earth now has high resolution all around Suvarnabhumi Airport, but not the airport itself. Don Muang is still high resolution, though - you can see the aircraft on the aprons and runways. Do you think this might have something to do with security? Is Google cooperating with governments on points like these?

Personally, I don't really need to see high resolution satellite imagery of airports and nuclear power stations, say. But terrorists would find it extremely interesting to say the least.

PointAsia looks good on their website. I did download, registered and installed the program but when trying to run it I get the error:

"The application failed to initialize properly ... 0xC0000135..."

I found this error mentioned on their FAQ page but clicking on details leads nowhere (hangs) (I have allowed pop-ups for this site!).

Any idea how I could get this Point Asia running?

I've tried it on three different PCs (all XP SP2) with same result.
