Fauci Diagnoses America: 'A Degree of Schizophrenia'

Let me dumb it down even further: Your initial post:

"That's the interview where Fauci finally admits that closing schools for a year during Covid was a mistake. It only took Mister I Am The Science 4 years to admit that 'conspiracy theorists' (and Trump) were right."

You reference to Conspiracy theorists is nothing to do with the statement made by Fauci. That's you trying to make something of nothing.

And your response was:

There were no conspiracy theories around closing schools, it happened in most countries in the world. The fact that they are now saying it was a mistake to keep them closed for so long says what?

You thought I was referring to an actual conspiracy, when I was only referring to the term "conspiracy theorist" and its use as a lever of censorship. This initial misunderstanding has led you astray in your subsequent interpretations.

Again attempting to make something out of nothing and associating what Fauci said about school closures with conspiracy theorist

You are completely missing the point. Facebook complied to government-steered censorship, which was multifaceted. Another example from the UK:

Ministers' had 'chilling' secret unit to curb lockdown dissent

https://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/home-news/government-secret-unit-covid-lockdown-b2350647.html

Guess you didn't read the entire article?

“It has never tracked the activity of individuals and has a blanket ban on referring journalists and MPs to social media platforms.

None of the people named in this report were ever referred to social media platforms by the Government and any claim otherwise is objectively false.”

When wokeism declares that a woman can have a penis, and that people can be whatever they say they are just by declaring it, when people have their own "truth", when people vote for a President so clearly suffering from dementia, there is clearly a degree of mental illness in play in the US right now.

History will look back and laugh at the current period.

"When wokeism declares that a woman can have a penis"

It has always been true that a woman can have a penis.

In fact if she is attractive enough she can have a different penis every night.

You can't blame that on "wokeism".

Before COVID I couldn't even say epidemiologist, now I are one.

You guessed wrong. This article is an example of the multifaceted government censorship which I was referring to.

Fauci Said Masks 'Not Really Effective in Keeping Out Virus,' Email Reveals
Dr. Anthony Fauci wrote in February 2020 that store-bought face masks would not be very effective at protecting against the COVID-19 pandemic and advised a traveler not to wear one.

You know full well that many were censored and are still censored,

just because you agree with censorship does not make it right.

soon enough they will be censoring something you care about for some spurious reason...well maybe not as you agree with everything they say anyway ?

And were is your link to the "misinformation. Which killed thousands"  kettle black

Censored for very good reasons. There are hundreds of articles about misinformation killing thousands. Here's but one.

Masks don't protect you, they protect others if you have the virus. Masks are a popular topic with conspiracy theorists and misinformation on social media.

If you have invasive surgery, please tell the doctors and attending staff not to wear masks because they don't work. :cheesy:

And some of the data is outright frightening. The guy at 4:55 was spot on.

"some". That could mean anything from vanishingly small on up. There is a huge amount of data showing that the vaccines not only reduced deaths, but also the severity of the cases. There is a positive correlation between severity of symptoms and the incidence of long covid.

Again, you are missing the point. The issue isn't about the effectiveness of masks or lack thereof, it is about Fauci's propensity to assert things in the name of "Science" and then make about-turns a little further down the road.

Here are a couple, paywalled links for reference and archived links to access the actual article.

Many censored social media posts did not contain Covid-19 misinformation

A large proportion of posts the government targeted for removal by the digital platforms promoted wild conspiracy theories and misinformation but many others simply questioned the effectiveness of lockdowns and masks, shared information now accepted as accurate, and urged people to protest against pandemic measures.

Covid Censorship Proved to Be Deadly
Government and social-media companies colluded to stifle dissenters who turned out to be right.

[…]
Twitter blacklisted Stanford physician and economist Jay Bhattacharya for showing Covid almost exclusively threatened the elderly, severely reducing the visibility of his tweets. When Stanford health policy scholar Scott Atlas began advising the White House, YouTube erased his most prominent video opposing lockdowns.

Think about what happens when you know where you want to drive to but you're in unfamiliar territory. You know accurately in which direction your goal lies, but you may turn down a street that starts in the correct direction but then turns into a dead end.  It seems like you're one of those who end up in the ditch.

You too are missing the point.

Let's continue with your analogy.

Would you see it as problematic if an authority figure were to say "I am the sole competent authority in the field of urban navigation and this is incontrovertibly the only street everyone should go down, those who even remotely suggest another route are threats to society", before stating two years later "Going down that road was a mistake"?

As you said they do not work to protect the doctor  they might work to protect the patient in the event of doctor coughing, sneezing, sweating  in to the patients open wound, these being properly fitted masks.  the masks used during the pandemic ?

It seems the grass in the ditch is too deep for you to have a good view.

It seems you're impressed with his position at Stanford while pointedly ignoring the views of other "Stanford scholars" ... to wit the quote from Stanford University's StanfordReport :

The Stanford Faculty Senate on Thursday condemned the COVID-19-related actions of Scott Atlas, a Hoover Institution senior fellow serving as a special assistant to President Donald Trump for coronavirus issues.

A resolution, introduced by members of the Faculty Senate Steering Committee and approved by 85 percent of the senate membership, specified six actions that Atlas has taken that “promote a view of COVID-19 that contradicts medical science.”

The issue discussed is censorship, not its justifications.

Perhaps because it was a fast moving and mutating virus that the world had never seen? Jeez. Some nitpick faucI who knows more about infectious diseases than just about anyone.

Might work? They do work. That's why medical staff wear them. To protect the patients.
