Popular Post webfact Posted June 25, 2024 Popular Post Posted June 25, 2024 Taipei police arrested eight Thai women and a Thai transwoman for illegal prostitution at a hotel in the Zhongshan district of Taipei City. This follows a similar raid last month. In response to recent illegal activities, Taipei police intensified efforts following the arrest of 24 Thai women in Zhongshan on May 20. The latest raid occurred on June 19, targeting a suspected prostitution operation in a hotel, netting 12 foreigners, including nine Thai nationals – one of whom was a transwoman. All had entered Taiwan as tourists under the visa-free scheme. Authorities revealed that the Thai nationals were recruited by a transnational sex trafficking gang. The operation was short-term, and all detainees will soon face deportation after paying fines, along with a lifetime ban from Taiwan. Police are scrutinizing the hotel's ownership for potential involvement in the illegal activities. The proprietor faces charges related to labour and sexual conduct laws. Investigations are ongoing to dismantle the broader sex trafficking network behind these operations. Radio Taiwan International issued a cautionary advisory, emphasising that Taiwan does not offer agricultural or manufacturing jobs to foreigners without official collaboration. This aims to deter potential victims from falling prey to false job advertisements, particularly those linked to the sex industry. These arrests follow a pattern of ongoing issues. Last October, police in New Taipei City apprehended a 20-year-old Thai woman for running an illegal prostitution business, discovered through social media ads. While Taiwan continues its efforts against prostitution networks, these incidents highlight the persistent and evolving challenges posed by transnational trafficking. Taiwanese authorities remain vigilant, urging public awareness to thwart exploitation and illegal activities. Popular Post JoseThailand Posted June 25, 2024 Popular Post Posted June 25, 2024 They treat them too nicely. They should've done to them the same as the Thai police do to foreign visa offenders - put them in lousy IDC and wait for someone to buy a flight ticket for them 1 2 2
Thingamabob Posted June 25, 2024 Posted June 25, 2024 As far as I am aware prostitution is not illegal in Taiwan. This appears to be a crackdown on visa abuse. 1

Prostitution is Legal in Taiwan in special Zones but no 'Special Zones' have been set up. Foreign Prostitutes caught by police are charged with prostitution, rather than illigal work by Foreign national.

Taboo2 Posted June 26, 2024 Posted June 26, 2024 This is great news for Pattaya. Usually, we have a high price quotes from these birdies because they are spoiled in Taiwan, HK and S. Korea. Now, they will return and have to take whatever we counter offer. Great job by the Taiwanese cops. Keep it up....55555. 1

Almer Posted June 26, 2024 Posted June 26, 2024 My experience,, if you have a Thai wife and meet a few requirements a UK visa is a given, if you have a girlfriend with little or no money other than a big deposit the week before the application, if the girl friend has no job or employment history and has 3 children she is supporting, save your money it won't happen, however if your girl friend has stable job like a nurse or bank official with regular monthly income and a letter from her employer that her job remains for her whilst she is on holiday tick a few more boxes and your in, it is for the consular official to get a view from the application that it is a holiday and she will come back at the end of the stay, if the UK make it visa free,. Look out. 1

I know cos I have extended family who work in this industry in Japan and Korea making 100k (baht) a month and when they work in Phuket they make 50k a month. The kids don't benefit. No education No dentist No healthcare No decent clothes No safe transportation Total neglect (by grandparents), abandonment (by parents) and various kinds of abuse. It's common. Try living in a rural Isaan village and see for yourself. Plenty of money for gambling though. They love that. I am absolutely certain they'll encourage their daughters to do the same. It's a good earner. 1 2
Popular Post mason 45 Posted June 26, 2024 Popular Post Posted June 26, 2024 I totally agree FruitPudding, I've been married to a Thai for 22 years. I met her family and did all the good things and I lasted 2 nights. I've since realised that the best thing to come out of Korat is the highway back to Bangkok or Pattaya. 2 1

No social judgement? No father figure or abusive father or another family member or family friend. No sense of worth because of this. Unstable "parents" who push them into the trade because they want money and make them feel guilty if they don't help. They of course are looked down on by the elders but so are most others that do better than they do anyway. Women here are looked at as inferior right from the start so their self esteem takes an immediate hit.
