"that I was travelling up & down the rail network"..... in a rough part of a big Third World City? Is that what you do on holiday? Nightclubs and women are out?

  • I just got back from Manila, sooner than planned, because I could not take the filth, poverty, noise, greedy beggars which included near every gov official! Plus filthiest hotel in 45 years of travel.

  • I'm not about to answer the first question, for all sorts of reasons.   As for all the others, Pattaya wins hands down. Angeles is nothing compared to what it was a few years ago and it was

They certainly are !

I haven't been in a bar for years and I have been to Pattaya twice in 2025 for average one month visits

Sometimes the travel vibes and adventure aren't in the clubs and bars my dude.

He was just taking in the scene and keeping abreast of the situation.

I was being sarcastic but really, walking around in rough neighborhoods in 3rd world cities for "vibes and adventure"?

GypsyF post a year ago:

"The Manila Airport area is a war zone; Gangs are roaming around, shots are fired nightly and lot of robbers are staking hotels... Hotel had 4 armed guards, the whole building had steel fence and when I went to near by small store they came along. Not an over kill! A group followed us on the other side of the street. Mean looking filthy desperate guys in 20s.

My Pinoy friends couldn't believe I stayed there for 2 nights. Nobody wanted to come there to meet me so I left.

I didn't know better."

- unless you are flying out right away, why would you stay there?

-your odds and probabilities of being assaulted and robbed walking around in the poorest parts of third world cities like a numbskull goes waaayyyy up.

-thats why the one poster had police in Manila telling him to move on to safer areas as they didn't want to find his dead body.

- you walk around the favelas on the hills outside Rio, you will dissappear

-you walk around Compton at night (Los Angeles) most likely you will get robbed, possibly killed.

My point is why when on holiday are you putting yourself in super risky areas? This isn't the Anthony Bourdain show.
