My cat alone takes up susan's budget.

  • It’s a big country with lots of different levels of affordability. Where in Thailand does it cost you 31,000?

Even back in 1999 I thought Norway was ridiculously expensive, backpackers didn't leave the hostel in Oslo, miserable place if you can't go out

Norway is expensive, no doubt about it, and not especially backpacker friendly if you do not have money.

Me and my wife ideally spend 10 days travelling in Norway a year, and compare to Thailand we would have a nice one month in Thailand in comparison all included 3 meals a day, while In Norway we cooking most meals our self.

Anyway, it helps when we can fish, pick fruit, wild vegetables, mussels, crabs and mushrooms.

Living here is not that bad when you working and have income.

Have you tried it? I bought it...once.

Greek style...

For anyone that eats yogurt regularly, particularly if you like plain yogurt. you really should get a culture going in the refrigerator and make your own.

Right, that is not real yoghurt at all, a mix of different ingredients.

Been thinking about it awhile now, using a crockpot as an incubator, as I eat yogurt almost daily now and would prefer using ingredients of my own instead of sugar added brands or just plain.

We went from about 15k a month on average, to 30-35K the past year or so. A lot of that, upping our out & about budget, a couple months a year.

If staying home, could probably keep it around 20k a month.

... house w/solar paid for

... BEV: car, mb & ebike (paid for)

... minimal electric, conx fee + (< 100)

... collect rain water, but lots of Greenhouse / garden to water (2-300)

... phone & internet < 2k a month

... car ins < 1200k a month

... rest is just feeding ourselves, 99% in home, whole food munching

... no alcohol, tobacco or weed

... healthcare, minimal and most check up & bloodwork, although getting cataract taken care of next month 🙄 one off in lifetime

It's hot enough here that you do not need an incubator.

It's close at times, just like back in Texas, bit it needs to be 105- 115 F (40-46C). You can use the crockpot and turn it off and wrap it after it's on low for almost 3 hours. I'll need a thermometer to make sure it's cooled down to 110F before adding the culture.

You need a thermometer, yes, but just takes a bit longer on the porch.

If you have a crock-pot, great, but it's more to clean up.

Like a trip back in time. Bob Smith and Susanlea as contributors.
