fat boy slim Posted July 31, 2007 Posted July 31, 2007 Just finished building my new house and I am having problems with my house water pump. The pump keeps cutting out because it is over heating due to no water getting to it. i bleed it in the morning but in a couple of Hours it cuts out again. I am assuming air is getting in some where between the inlet pipe from the underground water tank and the pump. Does anybody know of a "reputable" company that could sort out my problem, preferably some one who can speak English. Maybe it is just a simple problem that I cannot see, that can be sorted out before I have to start digging the inlet pipe up to check it. No problem with the water tank as it is always full.

It would help if posters knew your location. There's nothing shown in your profile madame.
fat boy slim Posted July 31, 2007 Author Posted July 31, 2007 Sorry. Just to let you know I live in Pattaya, East Pattaya to be exact.
Tony Clifton Posted July 31, 2007 Posted July 31, 2007 Before you start digging, check if they even bothered installing a foot valve at the end of the intake in the water tank. That should keep the water from flowing back in. If there is one, it may be faulty, happens a lot with cheap plumbing parts available here. I once bought from a shop that exposed their plumbing fittings to the sun and some of them cracked at installation. Most likely nothing wrong with your pump, probably another improvised plumbing job.
Cobalt60 Posted July 31, 2007 Posted July 31, 2007 Would agree with Tony Clifton, first check is for a Non Return Valve problem.
Crossy Posted July 31, 2007 Posted July 31, 2007 Sounds like the pump is losing its prime. Another vote for the non-return valve ^^^. "I don't want to know why you can't. I want to know how you can!"
fat boy slim Posted August 1, 2007 Author Posted August 1, 2007 Thanks for the idea. i'll start emptying the tank now and change the valve. I'll let you know what happens. Thanks for the info
fat boy slim Posted August 3, 2007 Author Posted August 3, 2007 I had a look at the non return valve at the end of the inlet pipe and it was Ok, but whoever fitted it had not put any PTFE tape to seal it properly. So I have resealed it and, crossed fingers, everything should be OK. Anyway Thanks for the help. Much appreciated
