Gas Explosion Suphanburi

July 11, at 14:00 the Sameakan Suphanburi Rescue Foundation reported an urgent incident in Doem Bang Nang Buat district, Suphanburi province.
 

A gas explosion occurred at a cooking gas refill station near the Khao Phra Red Light Market in Tha Chang. Initial reports indicate there is possibly multiple injuries, and explosions are continuing.
 

Rescue and disaster relief teams are currently working to extinguish the fire. The number of casualties and injuries is not yet known.

Preliminary reports state that one person was seriously injured, burnt by the force of the explosion and thrown out of the building and has now been taken to the hospital.
 

It is also reported that there maybe still 2-3 people trapped inside the building.

“Reports indicate that 5 people were injured at the scene. 

 

Responders have closed off all roads approaching the area. At the gas explosion site, responders have been using water spray to cool the fire and are expediting the evacuation of residents to a safe distance.

 

The cause is believed to be a gas leak. The latest situation is that the fire is contained.”

The fire is now under control. The cause of the incident was from a gas delivery truck.
 

The joint between the gas truck and the gas tank it was filling, caused friction, causing a spark, fire, and explosion.

 

The site is being inspected to confirm if there are any further injuries.
