There used to be a few websites where the main actors were girls from the bars in Bangkok. It seems the main male actor (I think he was tall and had no hair) was well known in the bars. That went on for years.

Was it illegal all the time?

 

I know that Thai authorities often look away if Thais are not exactly following the laws. But the same authorities also seem to be keen on arresting foreigners who break Thai laws. With that guy the evidence was easily available on the internet. And I am sure I am not the only guy who recognized some of the girls. How could that happen for years if it was illegal?

 

As far as I remember the websites were not officially accessible in Thailand. But with a VPN that obviously was no problem.

He wasn't difficult to find. The evidence was out there.

If what he did was illegal, then I would have thought they would have arrested him earlier.

 

It's not really important for me, but I guess there might be nuances in the law.

I.e. if anybody makes a video while having sex is probably not illegal.

Publishing that video in Thailand is probably illegal.

The bad guy could have made a "private" video in Thailand and someone else might have uploaded it in another country. Maybe some scenario like that kept it legal - just my idea why it might have happened.

I remember that "brand" back in the early century. It was made in hotel rooms and it's still available if one looks for it. I doubt the guy was uploading it IN Thailand.

It's like Japanese uncensored porn, which is uploaded outside Japan as it's illegal in Japan.

Probably have to speak Japanese, and overcome Japanese attitudes to foreigners. Best to be Japanese, to do that in Japan, unless a black guy, which appeals to a niche market.
