USA laws apply to Americans who break USA laws, where ever they are in the world. Additionally, a USA consulate/embassy is USA soil, by law. Immigration could have referred cases to the FBI if they had any evidence. Thailand is very cooperative with extradition requests, so no problem there, either. That would have scared away any fools even thinking of lying on sworn affidavits to get Thai extensions of stay. Why would more than 3 months of xfers be required, if one is starting fresh from a 90-day visa - whether obtained here or abroad? It's absurd ... unless one wakes up from their "all on the up and up" dream, recognizes the real purpose of these often nonsensical "rules." You should read here more. I have seen reports of people being rejected because of the transfers-timing, even if their total transfers far exceeded the minimum. Yes, one can have their pensions deposited in their home-country, and then manually transfer every month - just don't miss the timing by even a minute, no matter what events in your life might happen at that moment. The "new rules" had only one effect - more agent-use, as designed - as with all the other "crackdown" policies. Immigration have set up a "Got-cha" mine-field, for this purpose. -

I would assume that you log-in to your Royal Orchid account and take it from there after clicking on your booking. Firstly, I would check that you are eligible for the upgrade. Thai Finance Minister Calls for Tax Reform to Boost Economic Growth
Thailand’s Finance Minister, Pichai Chunhavajira, pushed for comprehensive tax reforms during his speech at the ACMA Business Forum 2024. Pichai stressed that Thailand’s personal and corporate income tax rates are higher than those of many competing nations, a discrepancy that could hinder the country's economic growth. The Minister underlined a global trend of lowering such taxes to stay competitive internationally. In discussing value-added tax (VAT), Pichai noted that it is a consumption-based tax, meaning those who purchase more will pay more. He advocated for an equitable application of VAT while suggesting that part of the revenue should support low-income individuals. Debt restructuring, particularly for home and car loans, was another focal point. Pichai recognised the challenges this entails but stressed its importance for financial stability, which, in turn, benefits banks. He warned that allowing more loan defaults could weaken even the currently strong financial institutions. Reflecting on Thailand’s economic trajectory, Pichai recalled the high GDP growth rates of 9-10% in the 1980s, driven by a strong investment ratio. However, he observed a stark contrast today, with the investment ratio down to 19-20%, contributing to slower economic growth. Excluding the Covid-19 period, the average growth rate in recent years has been 1.9%, far below the potential 3.5%. Pichai also highlighted the importance of a flexible exchange rate for the baht, given that export revenue constitutes a significant 65% of GDP. He emphasised that the exchange rate should be guided by market mechanisms. Addressing the stock market’s positive trends, Pichai credited the confidence in the new government's policies, adjustments to investment rules, and the promotion of new funds aligned with these policies. He projected that maintaining a trading volume range of 60-80 billion baht (approximately US$1.8-2.3 billion) was attainable with increased economic confidence. Pichai's call for tax system integration and reform reflects a push to realign Thailand with global standards, aiming at fostering sustainable economic development. Baht becoming ridiculously strong
Let me try to explain. The value of USD is determined by a basket of major currencies and shown on the Dollar Index (DXY) USD is at the top of the FOREX tree. Reserve and major currencies of the world have a one to one or direct relationship with USD so that when USD changes in value, those other major currencies change in value also. This gives us the major currency pairs such as GBP/USD, EUR/USD, USD/JPY and so on, all of which include USD in each pair. Minor currency pairs are the next level down the FOREX tree and they include pairs such as EUR/GBP, EUR/JPY, GBP/CHF etc. The minor pairs are formed between currencies that have a direct one to one relationship with USD but exclude USD in the calculation. Last is the minor pairs or exotics and this includes USD/SGD, USD/HKD, USD/THB, GBP/INR. These are direct pairings between a major currency and a minor currency. Since not every minor currency has a direct relationship with every major currency, cross rates allow a minor or exotic currency such as THB, to be valued against a major currency such as GBP, via the value of USD. What you can see from the above is that whenever USD changes value, every other currency in the FOREX tree changes value also, to a lesser of greater degree, based on its direct or indirect relationship with USD. In the case of minor cross rate such as GBP/THB, that is calculated by multiplying USD/THB by USD/GBP. That means the impact of any value movement in USD, on GBP/THB, can be diluted by counter movements in both GBP and/or THB. Similarly, any movement in THB value can be countered by opposing movements in GBP and/or USD. All of which tries to explain that just because USD changes value to one degree, it may change value against other currencies to a completely different degree.
