A few updates, ceilings going in, exterior paint colour chosen and first coat applied, interior tiling in main bedroom ensuite started, pool rebar installed getting ready for concrete pour this week

Maybe someone just wants to live in a really nice house and a really nice location and money really doesn't matter as long as whatever you're spending on makes you happy.

Isn't that why we generate money to spend on ourself to make ourselves happy ... that's part of my purpose in life.

Pool concrete pour today 21/08, my QA guy made sure reinforcement evenly spaced and to spec and formwork braced adequately.

Tiling guy on site measuring out and doing layout prep. Tiles will be laid brock pattern style inside and out.

Larger size 1200 x 600 in living room and 600 x 600 in rest of the house.

The backdrop to the pool is pretty awesome, jungle and the limestone cliffs - place is looking good!

The view is the one of the reasons we bought the land, we are at the foot of a limestone cliff that goes straight up 250m, photos dont do it justice

Be sure the electricians are 100% quality. A friend of mine lost his son to electrocution in the shower. He had built a really nice house, spent big. Also there have been a number of electrocutions (not all fatal) in some Krabi guesthouses.

Might be fun to have a wildlife motion camera poolside for when the Phra Nang monitor lizards sneak over for a dip 🙂.

The electricians seem pretty professonal and evrything they do looks neat and tidy so assume they know what they are doing, but will make sure we get all the safety checks done before handover, maybe get my QA guy to get independent electrician in for final checks.

We will have outside secirity cameras facing the pool so will be interesting to see what animal life arrives, previous land owner said there is a gang on monkeys on that mountain that sometimes come down as a group and raid everyones fruit trees.

Ya, kill switches (no pun intended) right next to heater box in the shower. That's what I had in my Phuket pad.

Don't like monkeys. Pests. I used to get a boat out of Bang Rong Pier Phuket to do business on other islands, all the shop keeps kept long sticks and would whistle at each other when the thieving pests came in off the roofs. They would steal bags of Doritos etc when shops weren't looking. Mobs of them 👎 Big sticks to thwack.

Build looking good. Would be good to hear how you go with boat registration, captain licensing and launch and usage. That would be an interesting topic as it seems there are very few recreational foreign boat owners around Thailand

Yeah might start a new thread, still need to get my head around the licensing side of things. Boat is new, never been in the water. Seller is helping me get a trailer built, getting quotes for outboards now.

External tiles started, septic tank concrete rings on site, some brickwork going into the pool

Did you give solar a thought? Just curious, there are some good threads in the i think home improvement section here. Prices seem to keep coming down for panels and batteries and such.

Have thought about it but might wait until we move in and see what the power bills are like first.

Hopefully we can open the big doors in living room and get a breeze thru the place and reduce the need for AC.
