Small Private Aircraft Crashes Into Building, Samut Sakhon

Authorities received a report regarding a small private civilian aircraft had crashed in the Khok Kham area. Upon arrival at the scene, officials discovered the building that the plane hit on fire and the pilot, who was the sole occupant of the aircraft, dead in the crash.
 

The cause of the accident is currently unknown, and an investigation is underway.

Think you are right, as another report says it happen at a resort next to Ocean Golf Course, which I assume is on the left of the map you posted.

 

Other information is very limited currently.

“A small civilian aircraft crashed in the Phanthai Norasing area, resulting in the death of the pilot, who was identified as a distinguished flight instructor named Phudit Supawatnakul. The crash site was at an abandoned resort, approximately 500 meters from Best Ocean Air Park Airport, in the Khok Kham subdistrict, near the boundary of Phanthai Norasing in Mueang Samut Sakhon District.

 

Upon receiving the report, the Disaster Relief Center of Khok Kham Subdistrict Administrative Organization dispatched emergency services to the scene. The aircraft was found engulfed in flames, which had also spread to a residential property nearby, causing significant damage.

 

Emergency responders promptly extinguished the fire and recovered the body of the pilot, who had been severely burned. Initial reports suggest that the aircraft encountered mechanical problems shortly after takeoff. It is believed that the pilot attempted to return to the airport but crashed into the house's roof, igniting a fire. Fortunately, the house was unoccupied at the time of the incident.

 

Authorities are currently investigating the exact cause of the crash, examining whether engine failure or low altitude flight contributed to the tragic accident.”

The aircraft involved was a two-seat personal aircraft, model , ZODIAC CH 601, which is available as a kit or completed aircraft, and is reported to have been on a test flight, when the accident occurred.
 

The aircraft crashed into room number 303 within the Best Ocean Village Resort, located in Moo 7, Khok Kham subdistrict, Mueang District, Samut Sakhon.

 

The pilot was aged 33, and accident site now has restricted access, to allow the Aircraft Accident Investigation Committee to proceed with a thorough investigation under Thai laws governing aviation.

“Authorities, including Police Colonel Pakin Siwamethakul, Deputy Chief of Samut Sakhon Provincial Police, Police Colonel Somchai Korka, Superintendent of Khok Kham Police Station, Police Lieutenant Colonel Prasop Panjang, Deputy Superintendent of Khok Kham Police Station, forensic investigators from Samut Sakhon, a medical examiner from Samut Sakhon Hospital, and rescue personnel from the Samut Sakhon Charity Foundation, attended to the scene.

 

There they found a two-seater aircraft, model CH601, registration number HS-DEV, crashed onto the roof of a resort room. The aircraft and the house were engulfed in flames, which firefighters from the Khok Kham Subdistrict Administrative Organisation extinguished in about 20 minutes.

 

Inspection revealed that the aircraft's engine had detached and was found outside the building, while the wings remained on the roof. The house suffered extensive damage. The body of the pilot, identified as 33-year-old Mr. Phudit, was found on the ground, severely burned.

 

Mr. Pracha Mung Raksachon, manager of Best Ocean Airfield, stated that the deceased was a flight instructor. He noted that the aircraft had not been flown for over three years and was intended to be relocated to Klong 11 in Pathum Thani. The flight's timeline is under investigation, and it was observed that the aircraft descended and there was no explosion or visible fire, thus indicating potential engine failure.

 

Eyewitness Mr. Nipon, 65, reported seeing the aircraft circling back within 20 minutes after takeoff. He believed the plane experienced issues, descending sharply over a chicken fighting arena before pulling up and circling a nearby fishpond area. The pilot then seemed to attempt a low descent, clipping the resort's roof before crashing.

 

Preliminary police investigations suggest engine failure as the likely cause of the crash. Further investigations will be conducted to determine the exact cause of the incident.”
