The international bidding for the construct the second runway at U-Tapao has finished and was won by Italian-Thai Development (ITD)

ITD won the contract with a bid of 13.2 billion baht, which was lower than the mean bid price of 15.2 billion baht. There were four other bidders, but their proposals were all higher costs than ITD.

The next step involves contract signing with the Royal Thai Navy, with the construction work expected to be completed within the next three years. This project is a key part of the redevelopment of U-Tapao Airport and the Eastern Aviation City, which aims to launch the first phase of services by 2028.

Details of the procurement process won by ITD can be found here - https://www.utprw2.com/en/procurement?id=2

After so many years, it is still too difficult for Thai people to build something like this without help from those foreigners.
It's about time they got a little more in awe of those foreigners, without their help Thailand is at the mercy of the gods (read China).

It's a gimme to Italian Thai, who are in deep doo-doo financially. Hope they can pay their workers on this project at least..

The quoted bid price by ITD will quickly run into cost over-runs due to....er....unexpected site challenges which can be better managed with the cooperation of the Thai Government and RTN.

The submarine when delivered will have transit wheels installed and can use the new runway for crew practice. 😀

I thought the Airforce 'owned' that airport not the Navy ? but who ever 'owns' it they will be pleased to add that to their portfolio payed for with more tax payers money. As usual here gone with the cheapest quote not those that are competent. Still the Major share holder of SGB will be pleased, gotta keep it in the Family. init

there are the REPAIRS after, that kinda doubles the initial bid in the long run...

Usually dealt with through the contact, tech specs, claims and warranty arbitration and the court.
