Canadian government wants things sent by fax

Any suggestions as to where I think most of the ones that were mentioned in a previous thread 2020 are now closed

Of course they do, fax is about the only way to send a legal copy of a document, either by physical or electronic fax.

Geez… yes they do !!

For example some banks do not accept email for some communications.

Thus topic has been done before & there were similar responses to yours who did not recognize that things exist outside of their experience.

I for one have been in a couple of situations whereby only a fax was accepted (re-activating an account in Singapore).

Isn't a fax printed on thermo sensitive paper, and will deteriorate in a year. So cannot be used for legal documents.

Ask someone under say 15 years old, and they will say What's a Fax?

Wrong, not accepted, not in UK anyway.

So if you do get one, Lord knows how these days as you need a machine connected to a land line, scan it in and keep as a pdf.

throw the damn fax machine out the window and burn any fax's in the office ....

open up the computer and start scanning docs and attach them as pdf's.

Nearly - there are Apps that will send a document to a fax machine - this is sometimes accepted by institutions that ‘require’ a fax due to official regulations.

I agree that certified digital certificate on a PDF has a stonger digital footprint that is legally binding in many countries / institutions- but there are others that still will not accept this (at least up until recently / a couple of years ago in my experience - I too found the situation quite ridiculous, but it didn’t matter what I thought, it mattered what I needed to do).

silly comment, ignore.

Try an international hotel with a business centre. One of them may have one.

There is a lot of info here that explains why a Fax can be regarded as a legal document, even in a court of law and why they are still used. At least there is for those patient enough to read it.

https://ww2.efax.com/uk/blog/why-fax-is-legally-binding#:~:text=A faxed signature is legally,be sufficient evidence in court.

I've used Wisefax a few times to transmit a Fax directly from my computer.

it all depends on the fax machine. Some fax machines use regular paper just like a printer.

I've used e-fax for Canadian (CRA) documents without problem.

In Thailand I went to the bigger copying shops that usually had faxes

Mailbox Etc usually has a fax machine,  and some of their staff know how to use it

Also some internet/printer/copy shops

I know one but its very far from Rangsit

Not a recognised legal  option.

No

Electronic fax is purpose made software designed to meet fax requirements.

For legal reasons, fax was and is the only recognised alternative to snail mail for certain documents.

These days some documents can be sent by email if the document is password protected. Of course that also requires purpose software.

At the end of the day if an organisation requests a document by fax it is not up to anyone on here to question that request.

The OP only asked for some information.
