Indian Vendors Clash Over Roti Selling Spots, Leading to Stabbing in Si Racha

August 20, a dispute over roti selling spots between two Indian vendors escalated into a stabbing incident, leaving one man severely injured. The assailant fled the scene, and police are currently pursuing the suspect.

 

The incident occurred at 17:30 in front of a convenience store in Moo 2, Surasak Subdistrict, Si Racha District. Pol. Lt. Somkhane Phantawaree, an investigator with the Si Racha Police Station, received a report of a violent altercation involving roti vendors. Emergency responders from the Sawang Prateep Si Racha Rescue Unit were immediately dispatched to the scene.

 

At the location, officers found the victim, Mr. Hima, a 47-year-old Indian national who sells roti from a motorcycle sidecar. He was lying in a pool of blood, moaning in pain. Upon examination, it was revealed that he had sustained stab wounds to his head, face, torso, and back, as well as a cut on his left palm. Rescuers provided first aid before rushing him to Somdej Phra Boromma Ratchathewi Na Si Racha Hospital.

 

The assailant was not present at the scene when authorities arrived. 
 

According to a witness, the altercation began when the victim parked his motorcycle sidecar to sell roti in front of the convenience store. Shortly after, the suspect, also a roti vendor with a similar setup, arrived at the same location. An argument ensued between the two men over selling territory. The situation quickly escalated when the suspect retrieved a knife and began attacking the victim before fleeing the scene.

 

Preliminary police investigations suggest the motive for the stabbing was a conflict over sales territory. Authorities are gathering evidence and taking witness statements as they work to locate and apprehend the suspect for prosecution.

Note it said "Indian national" and not "Thai of Indian descent". There are a lot of Indians in Thailand who've descended from families that have been here for generations (or longer).

Yes, "Indians" can do it.......also Iranians and Irish (if they know the right people and/or don't get caught).

That's what I was wondering as well. I thought foreigners aren't allowed to take up certain professions in Thailand, such businesses being one of them.

I suspect immigration will be rolling in soon to verify this guy has the proper visa to be doing this job as well as work permit and business licenses. It is most certain police already know who is the other attacker.

If I were selling food not really worth eating and someone stole my spot, I wouldn't stab them, I would use a lead pipe on them!
