The Thailand Consumer Council has urged the public sector to subsidize public transport fares using funds from vehicle, land, and windfall taxes. This proposal was made during a meeting focused on creating a safer, fairer public transport system. The TCC president criticized Thailand’s transport development for excluding consumer input, saying it prioritizes Bangkok while neglecting provincial areas.

Elderly people from an ethnic minority group in Chinag rai are calling on the government to speed up the process to grant them Thai citizenship,  The Community Development Foundation says over 13 hundred applications were made between 2014 and 2017, but only 239 have been approved.  Most of the group migrated from southern China and have been living in Thailand for more than 50 years, adding that some of them have died while waiting for Thai nationality.

Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr said the government will go after the “culprits” responsible for the escape of a former town mayor who is being investigated for her alleged ties to Chinese criminal syndicates.  Alice Guo, also identified as Chinese national had managed to leave the country,  and is believed to be in Indonesia after travelling via Malaysia and Singapore.
