I am wanting to stay in Koh Lanta for about 10 days at the end of October and i'm looking for a cheapish hotel (500-800 Baht a night) i will be travelling with my 19 month old son so needs to be child friendly. Any advice would be great.

I stayed at Wherelse when it was just a little simple complex and the island was indeed very sleepy. It's run by a charming Thai family. Very good atmosphere. If your priority is the beach then you can try their relatives' Somewhere Else...
