In a bold step towards a greener future, Nong Yai Police Station in East Pattaya has gone solar, slashing energy costs and setting a shining example for other public institutions. The station, now powered by an impressive 12-kilowatt solar system, is leading the charge in sustainable energy practices.

The eco-friendly setup includes a state-of-the-art 12-kilowatt Deye Hybrid Inverter, 28 solar panels, and two lithium phosphate batteries, providing round-the-clock power to the bustling station. With 24/7 operations to maintain, the switch to solar marks a significant reduction in the station’s dependence on traditional electricity sources.

Station chief, Police Colonel Krit Masuk, was quick to highlight the benefits. “This initiative helps us cut energy costs while contributing to environmental protection,” he stated.

The system ensures the police station can continue its vital work, all while reducing its environmental footprint. But this isn’t just about cutting costs—the police station chief emphasised the broader impact.

The station’s focus on energy efficiency showcases the potential for similar projects to be implemented across Thailand, bringing long-term savings and environmental benefits. Public institutions across the nation may soon follow suit, recognising the financial and ecological advantages that come with embracing sustainable energy solutions.

Great news.

How was this installation financed?

It should be government policy to fit solar power to all government buildings.

I love how the Thais just get on with reducing emissions without all the looney deniers that you get in the west.

In European country I come from, wind turbines are banned because they can't get approvals from locals nor ENVIRONMENTAL groups! They say that birds will get killed by the fans... If anyone ever looked at the wind turbines, he or she could notice that they spin at a meat grinder speeds... NOT. Either these folks think they have the most stupid birds on the planet, or have never seen a wind farm in action. Btw - it was no reservation on building another thermal power plant using lignite, probably one of, if not the most polluting fuel known to mankind, nor resistance in building a nuclear power plant... But then, with so many people there thinking 5G caused COVID, that's hardly surprising. I don't know what happened to that place lately. Like something got released into the air or water or something, which melted away the IQ?

Solar power in a place so near the equator  with abundant sunshine makes perfect sense "a no brainer".

Somewhere like Aberdeen in Scotland  makes far less sense  and  hence  "looney deniers"  are much more reluctant to plough such a high personal investment in, considering the break even point  is much longer due "not much sunlight"  needing far more panels and the much higher installation/labour costs.
