Amongst the most accurate predictions for the 2020 presidential election were those by a data scientist from Northwestern University.

Gamblers were his primary source.

My bookmaker, and many of his associates, have remained firm in offering odds on a Trump win come November. Thinking is that Harris is vulnerable, as time goes by, to increasing accusations of extreme socialism.

He has a point. The more Harris opens her mouth, the less people like her.  Plenty of chances to trip up before the election and let her mask slip.

Yeah, because no bettor has ever been caught cheating or throwing a contest.

That has NOT been the experience of the last 2 months, as every poll in Usofa amply demonstrates.

What the polls also suggest is that many people would like her to open her mouth more so that they can have a better understanding of her & her thinking.

Fair enough. I should have said, "tries to speak extemporaneously". She can memorize canned phrases and read a teleprompter just fine.  I agree that people would like her to speak and finally delineate some policies, but that would be political suicide.

Whether more detail on policies would be political suicide is debatable. Most people will see her only on an electronic screen. What mostly counts there is impressionistic - their view of the human being on display. The detail of policies is - mostly - for the nerds to sweat over before coming up with a counter-slogan.

In any case, so far she has scarcely put a foot wrong (unlike her opponent who steps in it every day). If she can continue to manoeuvre around policies without losing herself in the detail, she's probably on a winner.

We'll all know soon enough.

My sister's Chatty Kathy doll could do that back in the '70s.  She's just an updated model.

definitely a contender for poorest reading skills.  Your comment makes it obvious you barely read the OP and didn't even start on the articles linked in the OP.  Care to put in an actual effort to understand the topic?

Did you actually look at and understand the odds offered?

It seems you could easily think that the offered odds indicate Trump is a favorite while in fact he is considered an underdog.

I don't suppose there's any chance that the Harris campaign is paying bookies to lie, or paying bettors to bet on Harris.

FFS, they're paying out $millions to get influencer to say nice things and even more to show up at events. Why not offer to cover bettors' losses if it makes Harris look more popular?

You're thinking checkers. This is chess.

I deeply regret , absolutely correct

I'm of the opinion that Harris will win. All she has to do is avoid a total meltdown and rely upon a deep hatred of Trump to carry her to victory.

So far, Trump has done nothing in this campaign to move the needle and he can't rely on being shot another couple of times to win.

However, it wouldn't be AN if we didn't throw a couple of grenades.

First, Harris is irritating many African-Americans.

Second - there's plenty of people out there that just won't vote for a woman-of-colour as President.

Darn it... you caught us all out!

It's a total conspiracy involving hundreds of thousands, maybe millions, of left wing extremists.

Its unbelievable.  The world has never seen a conspiracy like this before.
