Deputy Prime Minister Visits Mae Ai and Mae Sai to Monitor Recovery Efforts

Deputy Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, accompanied by Ministers Varawut Silpa-archa and Theerathat Samretvanit, on September 21, visited the flood-affected areas of Mae Ai in Chiang Mai and Mae Sai in Chiang Rai. The purpose of the visit was to oversee recovery efforts following recent flooding and to deliver a message of support from the Prime Minister to those affected.

 

During the visit, the delegation participated in a community clean-up initiative in Mae Ai, focusing on homes damaged by the floods. Anutin emphasised the government’s commitment to providing assistance, stating that the Ministry of Interior had mobilised resources, including personnel and equipment, to aid in the recovery process. 
 

 

“We have been closely monitoring the situation, and I want to assure you that the government will not abandon its citizens. The situation is improving, and we are moving into a critical phase of rebuilding,” he said.

 

Anutin further outlined that the government had already approved compensation for affected households, including a waiver on electricity bills for September and a 30% discount for October in flood-hit areas. Additional funds for repairing homes are also in the pipeline.

 

“The dedication of local leaders has been invaluable in ensuring that aid reaches those in need. I bring the Prime Minister's concern and love for all of you. The government will always be here to support you,” he added.

 

Minister Theerathat shared the recent experiences visiting various affected areas and reiterated the government's commitment to restoring normalcy. She mentioned the approved budget of over 3 billion baht for relief efforts, which is being processed to ensure timely distribution to those in need.

 

“Do not hesitate to voice your concerns; it is our duty to help you recover and restore your lives to what they were before this disaster,” the minister said.

 

The visit underscores the government's resolve to support the affected communities and ensure that no one is left behind in the recovery process.
