This morning, a roadside bomb exploded in Ra-ngae district, southern Thailand, injuring eight soldiers. The blast occurred on Taloh Bridge as the soldiers were returning to their base after gathering parawood for renovations. Suspected insurgents are believed to have detonated the device.

In the aftermath, authorities swiftly cordoned off the affected area, imposing a vehicle ban to ensure safety and facilitate a thorough investigation. Evidence is currently being collected on-site with the hope of apprehending those responsible for this act of aggression. The incident highlights ongoing security concerns in Thailand’s southernmost provinces.

It might also highlight the failure of peace talks re-initiated by PM Prayut started in March 2020

in the aftermath of the failed negotiations with PM Yingluck Shinawatra's inability to contain the Thai army's objections in circa 2013. The RTM argued Thailand's sovereignty is undivided and cannot allow as defenders of the state the Southern Muslim 90% occupied provinces (former Muslim Kingdom of Patani) to have semi-autonomy. Coincidentally, Gen. Prayut led a military coup in 2014 to overthrow the Yingluck government.
