I'm trying to find out whether TV can be be received through the internet and particularly sport like German football ?

This will be in Thailand but I want to know firstly whether it can be done and then whether it can be done here.

Any assistance with any kind of TV through the internet and the software / hardware required much appreciated.

OH yeah, I want to play it on a large say 52" TV not a computer monitor - thanks

Hello Torrenova

there was a presentation last Saturday in Pattaya, showing live-TV over internet.

Look at www.ecom24.info

The service provides aprox. 50 stations. Problem: You need a fast connection, min. 1000 Kbs. There was a big discussion about the lausy service of thai providers, foremost from TOT.

Many TOT-Costumers here have NO connection, because wires was stolen (!) and TOT is not able to replace it - because their stock is empty. Ridicoulous! :o:D

So may you have to sign up for a 2 Mbit-line by Jasmin Internet (which works nicely) or something else. That means - you can get what you want, but it's not cheap. You'll pay approx. BHT 2000.- / mt for the line and a monthly fee from BHT 1000 for the online-TV-Service.

are you looking for something like a "slingbox"?

great gadget. check it out. you will need a fast adsl connection for it work properly. I think at least 1mb. my friend tried it here in bangkok using a true adsl 256k connection, and it just didn't work right. slow.

No just this end in LOS but also on the sending end. I use mine fine on a 512/256 from TOTBB at about 490k on the slingclient screen on the PC here, but I have 2048/1024 on the other end. When I had under 1024 on the other end it was just no good.

By the way this looks 100% like the FREE MAXTV service in Belgium - see http://www.max-tv.be/ (if you need and English language xml file for the menu - PM me as I wrote a quick hack a while ago for it as my French is too rusty these days) the download link is on the link above. It is about 18mb to download but well worth it.

I use it for the F1 racing with the extra (German SportsTV) F1 footage / info that it provides , as MAX TV shows the Pits, in-Car cams etc over and above the ITN / F1 programme.

The GermanTV, FrenchTV, UKTV and USATV (NHL and baseball) boom into most of Thailand even on a small ADSL link and for free.

There are plenty of p2p clients out there that let you watch streaming Internet TV, but, unfortunately, most of them are Chinese. Movies are ok, they only have subtitles, but programming is all in Chinese, and all cartoons are dubbed, even Tom and Jerry.

Ten years ago people needed English to watch TV, now it's Chinese. For some reason farangs are not interested in this techonlogy.

The best quality I've found so far is on TVCoo! (google it). Resolution is as good as a regular TV programming and signals are very very strong on most popular channels, never miss a frame. A lot better than TVup or MAXtv.

It won't do for a 52'' screen though, you'll need a proper HDTV with 25-100MBps bandwidth, not availabel in Thailand at all.

Sounds very interesting, could that get German Bundesliga as well ?

Thanks to all, keep the ideas coming
