Thai Police Clearance Certificate - Applying from UK
To update - not having much luck with this. I ended up applying in June. It arrived at the headquarters a week later (I tracked it online). Stupidly, I forgot to include my passport photos, but I received an email from someone there mid July (personal email address but asked for the passport photos for the police clearance certificate, so I assume not a scam), and said I could send a digital copy. Since then, I've had no reply. I've emailed that person again, emailed the police department, filled out the contact form on their website multiple times (which says you will receive a reply within 24 hours).... nothing. I don't want to apply again as I already had to go to Bristol to get two sets of fingerprints (about Β£150 for the pleasure). My HR department are quite rightly chasing me up on this frequently, and it's difficult trying to explain the reality of Thai time when their website says the certificate will be sent within 25 days! -

Looking for Scooter Mechanic in Chiang Mai β Post-Flood Damage
Hi everyone, Iβm looking for recommendations for a reliable mechanic in Chiang Mai to check my Honda scooter. It was caught in some flooding, with water reaching up to the exhaust pipe. Iβm not sure about the extent of the damage but would like to get it inspected and repaired as soon as possible. Any suggestions for trustworthy mechanics or service centres that have experience with water-damaged bikes would be appreciated! Thanks in advance. -

Smart Home automations - anybody using?
What power monitoring do you do in HA? You might have seen in the video that I have a Tuya WiFi biometric door lock in my Mechanical Room it works great. -

Keir Starmerβs EU Reset: A Strategy Built on Falsehoods
Maybe my posts just go over your head. You seem to be incapable of actually thinking for yourself, all you can do is spout the party line, interestingly for both the UK and the US. Perhaps you are an "Internationalist" - you declined to answer what country you are a citizen of. -

Keir Starmerβs EU Reset: A Strategy Built on Falsehoods
Gaslighting from you, if you look you will see many comments from me on threads on visas. where can I buy a a...? since 2003, whereas you have made 30,000 comments in a couple of years and only in the political/news threads. Do you even live in Thailand? No I didn't try registering under a different name because it wasn't that big a deal to me whether I commented or not. Politics is your life, it is not mine. I was apolitical until I saw the orchestrated propaganda campaign in 2016 for UK to accept a false narrative of "families fleeing war". I never liked the Left because of the kind of people they are, but actually do not reject all their ideas - I have benefited in my life from things put in place by a Labour Govt. -

Smart Home automations - anybody using?
I have WiFi smart plugs with energy monitoring sensors. They work fine, though I don't care about energy monitoring my devices. The trick is to use LocalTuya, not the default Tuya integration.- 1

Smart Home automations - anybody using?
FWIW, my home is Zigbee, Z-wave, HomeKit, and Matter free. 100% WiFi, with at least 40 various devices now. I know a lot of people swear by Zigbee, but the advantages it offers are minor, at least for my home. Any hardware I need is available in a WiFi version. Worst case for me - I'm quite fine with WiFi sensors that take 2 seconds to go online whenever they are triggered. These technologies also all require additional hardware which I knew was just going to complicate things further down the line. Also, some of these protocols, such as Zigbee, can be vendor specific - there is constantly a lot of discussion online about which zigbee router works with which devices and which it doesn't. No thanks. My objective was to make home automation simpler, not get more technical - that's just gonna make a bigger beast to tackle when things go wrong later. I had a Matter LED strip controller, so I installed a Matter software router. The controller was buggy as hell, so I dumped it and installed a much cheaper Tuya Wifi version - works perfectly. I have a HomeKit Yale lock. Had to move a HomePod speaker close enough to the door to get the lock to go online. It worked 95% of the time, but with a 2 to 3 second lag. That 5% tho....grrrr. Made a $3 ESP32 bluetooth proxy which covers the entire house and now the lock is super responsive and uptime is 100%. -

Likewise all my devices use WiFi, however my WiFi smart plugs are shown as unsupported for energy monitoring. I can still use them to schedule when they are on, but I get no power monitoring. A discussion on GitHub said that zigbee works for power monitoring and it does. -

Thai gov. to tax (remitted) income from abroad for tax residents starting 2024 - Part II
Welcome to the club, stat. He seems to put people on his ignore list when he's presented with a question he can't answer, or is presented with a position contrary to his. Keep up your valuable contributions to this forum.- 2

Is Thailand Value for money
I could say exactly the same thing about you.................... " No one believes NY Pizza and cheese burgers are healthy foods. Just you." I don't obsess about anything besides music and hunting and fishing. You assume what I know, and what others think. I know what professional nutritionists have said. there's a difference. -

S/E Asian Thai Consulates going to eVisa online system effective Tuesday Oct 8th
ATTENTION ALL MEMBERS; The following Thai consulates in S/E Asia will go to online eVisa applications ONLY starting the 8th of Oct. They will discontinue any walk up/in person visa applications at that time. Actually some of them stopped accepting in person applications already and have consular services closed until they open on the eVisa system on Tuesday Vietnam - Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City Malaysia - Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Kota Bharu Cambodia - Phnom Penh The follow consulates are still walk up consulates (they will not be changing to eVisa at this time) BUT you need to book an appt online to get in the gate Lao - Vientiane, Savannakhet Burma - Yangon The following consulates are walk up consulates no appt needed Indonesia - Jakarta Taiwan - Taipei Philippines - Manila You have to physically be IN the country whose thai consulate you are using on the eVisa system. Also the consulates that used to sell year/multi-Non-O's will no longer be able to seeing as that is NOT a choice on the eVisa system (so anyone thinking of going to HCMC or Savannakhet for year/multi Non-O think again π )
