IMO a long time coming! Typical Thailand, always reactive to disasters rather than proactive to try and prevent them.

Yes tend to agree but its a start  on an education in Safety

I have worked in the Oil & Gas industry for over 30 years and there is no one within that industry that I know who would have a gas propelled vehicle. We know the dangers of gas and they outweigh the benefits, if any, that they provide.

Gas Vehicles are world wide the system is well documented as Safe as long it is maintained correctly

No they are not. Get a rupture in the tank even a small one and they can explode. Petrol does not do that. If in the same condition as new true they are safe but that is never the reality of their use.

Lets get some facts in regard to Natural gas  If you worked in the oil and gas industry you should know this Natural gas as any gas, petrol, need to mixed with oxygen before it   ignites  Natural gas is harder to ignite that petrol  Natural gas will not ignite if it flows onto a hot surface petrol will   If there is a leak natural gas will not ignite with out an ignition source Petrol will ignite without a an ignition source if it get hot. if a gas system is maintained correctly there is no problem  and I don't think the world is going to stop using Gas power vehicle soon

Every time is the same, did they not order a crackdown a couple of years ago when a minibus caught fire and killed a group of Myanmar workers? Same again, in a few weeks it will be forgotten. The only crackdowns here are the ones on the officials rear ends nestled comfortably in their big office chairs as they count the envelopes.

You need to do your research, Thailand has a Multitude of Standards and safety protocols and build standards, there are lots of safety guidelines The problems is Not the safety standards it is the implementation and education on how to use them   do you know how to do a risk management assessment  you should as it could save your life one day Hazards are part of daily life  Risk assessment helps to Identify these hazards

Yes  they react it seems all those in charge due to their nepotism system and how government is funded based on register residence Bangkok being so populated and capital get major portions. i'm into controling the size if government here it is ridiculous it seems as if there is a person head of department with his feet up on the desk on the internet getting ideas. They copy everything from others more laws regulation but no a clue as to go about enforcing. It seems too to keep it the way it is an exclusive group of themselves so the corruption benefits are larger. The cost of Thai lives mean nothing then you got the population so patriortic they become so disensitize to these events where a few baht payout is enough to quiet them.

Yes they should be contained in some sort of fire proof chamber they could also install a fire extinguishing system that would go off if fire broke out, ships have cylinders that flood fires, but they can also kill you if your caught in the room, there may be some sort of chemical extinguishing system they could install that would flood flames as soon as fire started probably only in double decker busses and  have no passengers below.

In NZ you have to be certified to install LPG and CNG.

In spite of the fancy designs these buses come with an exit door near the back. 

It was reported door wasnt working many buses from manufacture come with contain Fire ext. Plus box to contain a tool to break the window?

Normally they would have a chamber  on new buses

Thailand's is gradual introduction over the past 15 years of regulations for bus safety laid out by the UNECE, the UN Economic Commission for Europe, a body responsible for establishing international standards in many areas. But application of these rules have been slow and piecemeal.

“The problem is most of the manufacturers in Thailand cannot reach that standard,So the implementation has been delayed, to allow them to catch up.

“Also, the regulations only apply to new buses. But most of the buses operating in Thailand are old." the fire system you reference is Halon 1301 but is an old system  Halon 1301 is a colorless, odorless gas used to put out fires. Halon sales began in the 1960s, and this product was a popular firefighting agent for many years. However, in the 1990s, the sale of Halon 1301 was banned due to its ozone-depleting properties. Even though the manufacturing of Halon is prohibited in the United States, its use is still allowed. there are better system today and fitted to buses  and yes you have to certified to install gas System in Thailand you have to remember this was an old bus it had no safety system or mediocre safety, in the western world buses go through a Risk assessment before it leave the depot  each day

BANGKOK, Oct 21 (TNA) – Deputy Commissioner of the Central Investigation Bureau, Pol. Maj. Gen. Jaroonkiat Pankaew, has revealed that a probe into the deadly school bus fire has uncovered potential involvement of government officials.

 

The investigation, he said, suggests that multiple government agencies could face legal action for their alleged roles in the tragedy.

 

A school bus, carrying students and teachers from Uthai Thani for a field trip caught fire during a field trip on Oct 1, tragically killing 23 people.
