DOJ sues Virginia for allegedly purging noncitizens from voting rolls too close to election.

The commonwealth has removed 6,303 noncitizens from voting in the upcoming general election.

Ahhh here we go again. Give it to Democrats to attempt to pervert election results by allowing noncitizens to vote. That shouldn't even be a question! Prove you're a citizen, or don't vote, period.

  • Popular Post

It kinda seems obvious that non citizens should not be on the voter register  let alone be allowed to vote !

The U.S. Department of Justice filed a lawsuit against Virginia election officials Friday that accuses the state of striking names from voter rolls in violation of federal election law.

I would agree.

How do these non-citizens end up on the electoral roll.....if electoral roll is the correct term?

What usually happens is that citizens with names similar to non-citizens get removed. If this happens too close to the election, these citizens can't vote.

They don't. These are mostly citizens with names similar to non-citizens. This is an old Republican trick.

They generally aren't. These are typically citizens with names similar to non-citizens.

A citizen would be able to show a right to citizenship  or perhaps not  isn't that one of the talking points

those "deprived ethnic minorities" (that should be voting democrat)  don't have any form of ID  no birth certificate,no bank account, no passport, no drivers licence..heck seems they might just be illegal ???

With respect you're missing the point of the DoJ action:

In court filings Friday, the Justice Department said that Virginia’s purge program, formalized in an August executive order by Republican Gov. Glenn Youngkin, violates the National Voter Registration Act’s requirement that any mass voter removal program be completed no later than 90 days before the election.

So its too late to remove the illegals from the ballot  maybe next time ?  there should be no if's and buts  its quite simple  a non citizen does not have the right to vote   they should be denied a vote if they cannot show proof of citizenship  and then promptly deported.

You are correct. With enough time, a citizen can easily prove their status and be reinstated to the voting rolls.

That's why it's not legal to drop a voter just before an election when there isn't time for a citizen to react if they are dropped from the rolls.

BTW dropping citizens from the voter rolls is done by Republicans under the belief that voters with Spanish names are likely Democrats.

Nope.

The problem is that usually these turn out to be citizens with names similar to illegals.

Another ruling by the SCOTUS , I think.I like how he included the dem name, who is the Senator of VA.

Gov Youngkin quote below!

"With less than 30 days until the election, the Biden-Harris Department of Justice is filing an unprecedented lawsuit against me and the Commonwealth of Virginia, for appropriately enforcing a 2006 law signed by Democrat Tim Kaine that requires Virginia to remove noncitizens from the voter rolls - a process that starts with someone declaring themselves a non-citizen and then registering to vote. Virginians - and Americans - will see this for exactly what it is: a desperate attempt to attack the legitimacy of the elections in the Commonwealth, the very crucible of American Democracy. With the support of our Attorney General, we will defend these commonsense steps, that we are legally required to take, with every resource available to us”.

Wrong as usual.

Good grief, what is it about the illegality of non citizens voting that some don’t understand. It’s illegal for a non citizen to vote in the United States. They can be barred from voting at any time and prosecuted after the fact. Plain and simple information for the Micky Mouse Club graduates here.

Just nutter noise. There was never an issue with any election until Donald started screaming bloody murder. Pathetic.

He created a Executive Order back in August .

“We do not mass mail ballots. We monitor our drop boxes 24/7,” Youngkin said. “We verify the legal presence and identity of voters using DMV data and other trusted data sources to update our voter roles daily, not only adding new voters, but scrubbing the lists to remove those that should not be on it, like the deceased, individuals that have moved, and non-citizens that have accidentally or maliciously attempted to register.”

It went on to say during a multi year research they removed 80k worth of dead voters, on the voter rolls.

This account seems to average something like 20+ posts a day.  All if it 100% pure garbage.  Almost like it's their job.  There are at least half a dozen accounts like this responsible for most of the garbage around here.  Ignoring them doesn't prevent seeing their topic posts, so that feature is basically useless.

Wrong opinion! Trump aint the first to bring attention to election integrity.

Some  dems  have been involved with Election Integrity before.

Jimmy Carter:

But 62 years ago -- when Carter was a 36-year-old political newcomer -- Carter became embroiled in an election fraud case himself, verified within weeks by a Georgia court.

More Republican B.S. in a vain attempt to substantiate the Big Lie (and  also expunge lists from voters who allegedly would vote Democrat, without leaving enough time for them to challenge the decision).

You don't get it.

Voter purges are an often-flawed process of cleaning up voter rolls by deleting names from registration lists.

This particular case doesn't matter, since Trump will lose Virginia.

After Trump loses in November, many of the low information Trumpers here will disappear, making this moot.

Officials were instructed to inform the affected individuals by State Government officials , prior to …

“Local officials were then tasked with notifying individuals whose names appeared on both the noncitizen and voter lists that their registration would be canceled if they failed to respond and affirm their citizenship within 14 days.

Not disappear, just doing this for the next 4 years.  Maybe crawling out of their hole once in awhile to deny climate change or whatever other nonsense it is these idiots post about.

A legal process is in place to address allegations illegals voting. You would know the Governor failed to comply with the timeline contrary to federal law. Why do you, trump and and other MAGA people fail to understand facts, unless just leveraging the situation for vellication which I assume makes sense in MAGA politics.

A citizen can show proof of citizenship, but only if they are aware that their registration has been cancelled.

The usual process is that the citizen goes to vote on Election Day, is denied, and then they have no recourse.

Job accomplished by the Republican party.
