In the early hours of October 16, a high-speed car chase turned into a terrifying crash in Amnat Charoen, leaving two individuals seriously injured. A white Mazda car, being pursued by two or three pickup trucks, lost control and crashed into a roadside utility pole. The force of the impact caused the car to flip multiple times, ejecting both passengers from the vehicle.

Eyewitnesses reported that a group of men, dressed in what appeared to be plainclothes and similar to law enforcement officers, had been driving the pickup trucks in pursuit of the car. After the crash, they stopped at the scene to inspect the wreckage.

The car’s rear and driver’s side were severely damaged, with both rear wheels folded inward. The two individuals inside, whose identities remain unknown as no documents were found on them, sustained critical injuries. Rescue workers from the Phetkasem Foundation quickly transported them to Amnat Charoen Hospital.

Witnesses at the scene stated that the chase had originated in Mukdahan and was heading toward Amnat Charoen city. The crash occurred on a downhill section near the entrance to the local bus station. The car had been traveling at high speed, with no indication of slowing down, before it veered off the road and struck the utility pole, sending the vehicle airborne and across lanes.

Initial speculation suggested that the incident may have been caused by a loss of control. However, the presence of the pursuing pickups, along with the behavior of the men who arrived on the scene, has raised questions about whether the crash resulted from an attempted apprehension or a chase gone wrong.

Authorities from the Amnat Charoen Police Station are currently investigating, gathering evidence and witness statements to determine the cause of the incident and any potential legal actions to follow.
