Bangkok’s streets are set for a transformative makeover, guided by Governor Chadchart Sittipunt. On Tuesday, he partnered with Deputy Governor Wisanu Subsompon to review progress on the ambitious footpath renovation along Itsaraphap Road near the MRT Itsaraphap Station. This project, started in June and projected to conclude by January 2025, is part of a citywide initiative to enhance pedestrian safety and accessibility within a one-kilometre radius of MRT stations.

The governor emphasised meticulous attention to detail, particularly with manhole covers and construction materials, to ensure public safety. He stressed the importance of maintaining cleanliness and adhering to deadlines to avoid project delays.

Beyond sidewalks, Chadchart inspected a bicycle parking area near Wat Ratchasittharam Ratchaworawihan, with plans to repaint and improve facilities as part of fostering a bike-friendly city. This move aligns with efforts to modernise and make Bangkok's streets more accessible.

Earlier, issues on Sukhumvit Soi 23 were highlighted, where water pipe work had damaged road surfaces. The governor’s rounds also included Lat Phrao intersection, with a major pavement overhaul underway after years of neglect. Residents have long contended with deteriorating paths, debris, and potholes, prompting calls for more orderly construction zones.

Through these concerted efforts, Governor Chadchart aims to navigate Bangkok towards a cleaner, safer, and more accessible future for all pedestrians.

Will power poles etc be made to hover?

Water meters currently installed to ankle tap pedestrians  set back into the properties they relate to?

I doubt anything much will change outside of the very elite development areas.
