Harden up snowflake.

If you drive sensibly on high alert you can avoid the other bad drivers.

When I first got my license my grandmother bought be an advanced driving course.
If you know what you are doing and how to handle a car properly then you can avoid 99% of accidents.

I didnt even drive much there and got hit on the highway by a guy changing lanes without looking, he sped off after. When it happened i thought it was intentional but with enough time living there i realized that they just dont drive good there. On the last vacation i saw a guy get hit trying to cross the highway, when i happened i thought it wasnt real. Im fortunate to have experienced what reality is there for myself before something out of my control happened. When it does it wont matter whether your sober or drunk. But i was in my 20s, and im still not old yet and have too much to lose

You had want to be careful in the USA.

About 40,000+ die every year over there.

Its as safe as driving in any other western country. Getting caught driving drunk here is hard to get yourself out of, but you wont lose your life like in thailand

If you want to know what 40,000 in a year looks like then look at Gaza.

You have to adjust to the local conditions.

You are not the only farang that gets freaked out by it.

You can adjust and still not have control over your surroundings. The chance of getting hit by a stupid person is 100x higher in thailand, and i think im being generous

I had an incident when I was 18 that involved a very old car, a mountain ravine in the middle of nowhere, and one too many Xmas drinks during the midnight hour.

I somehow managed to not over-correct and stay on the road, instantly sober, scared the crap out of me, and never ever did it again.

About one for every 7,000 registered vehicles

About one per every 6,000 licensed drivers

About one per every 79,000,000 miles driven

What's it like where you're from?

It's estimated that around 20-30% of all road traffic deaths worldwide involve alcohol.

And if those drivers did not speed and drove carefully that figure would be slashed by 90%.
which is why you need to be extra diligent on the roads.

after 4 or 6 beers consumed over a couple of hours - they are drunk

You are obviously a light drinker if you get drunk after 4 beers.
A lightweight.

Most sessions I drink 10- 12, and sometimes drink about 18 if a big night.

It is proven that women get drunk with drinking less than men. It is a scientific fact. The breathalyzer bar is set at the lowest point, which would be a 45kg light drinking woman.
You seem to conveniently forget this fact.

You drink 10-12 beers sometimes 18 if a big night and then drive ?

Fortunately, most Thai people have an acute sense of class and can gauge it instantly, just as anyone with insight and discernment can

Are you claiming now to be upper class Richard?

Good luck with that.

Self deluded hi-so wannabe.

i am able to see the reality that I am not upper class along with 95% of other Brits and Thais.
So I will just drink beer and have fun with them.

While you can hang out with your imaginary friends.

Now get back to work. You need the money.

Nope....  I'm claiming that Thai's are smart enough to spot the dregs.....   based on your comments, it seems they see you coming !!...

At least you are honest, with your admiting to being a low class drunk driver...

If you are drinking 10-12 or even 18 beers driving, we'll see you in the news soon enough.

Hillarious......    we have the perfect driver...  even more perfect when drunk.

Also a perfect example of the Dunning Kruger effect combined with outright stupidty & selfishness.

But what about the pedestrian or motorcyclist you hit ???

It is never happened.

it is only happening in your imagination.

It 'has' never happend 'yet'... it can happen any time... an accident can happen while sober, but is far more likely while you are drunk, and I'll also agree that an accident is more likely if you are speeding too...  and especailly if you are speeding and drunk...

As far a 'happenings within the imagiation' is concerned...   it is your delusion you are OK to drive while quite drunk tht is 'happening'...  the chances are you hitting someone while drink driving are fare higher than anyone else who driver normally sobre....

But, as you admited to driving like an utter t!t while sober, it maybe different for you...  as it seems you drive less recklessly while sobre - the reality is, according to your comments you are a dangerous driver while both sober and drunk.

You'll hurt someone one day, you're like a ticking time bomb...   but at least you'll be in your own car and not hurt yourself and you'll be selfishly ok with that you'll propably brag that you were sensible enough to drink drive and not drink ride !!!

Ohhhhhhhhh.

Here we go.

Hypocrite of the year award goes to Richard.

Nags people on line about having a couple of drinks but uses his police friends to get his drunk driving mates off.

You should be ashamed of yourself.

A disgrace.

I agree....   Given my stance on this subject, it was hypocritical helping out a couple of friends who were caught out over limit....

...  But what to do eh ?...  tell them to go and get flooked when they called ?... Nope... I'll settle for being a hypocrite in these situations...  disgracefull indeed - I feel well and truly gaslit now !!!
