In a shocking event that unfolded in the early hours of October 30, a village head fatally shot his 28-year-old son following a heated argument at their home in Moo 9, Wang Ang, Chao Wa District, Nakhon Si Thammarat.

Authorities were alerted to the incident, which prompted a swift response from the Chao Wa Police Station, which dispatched officers, investigators, forensic teams, and medical personnel from Chao Wa Hospital to the scene.

Upon arrival, law enforcement found the lifeless body of Mr. Supachai (surname withheld), who had been shot once in the head with a government issued semi-automatic shotgun. The weapon used in the incident was registered to the local administration.

The suspect, Mr. Saiwai (surname withheld), age 59, identified as the village head and father of the victim, remained at the scene and cooperated with police. Preliminary reports indicated that an argument had escalated between the father and son, culminating in the tragic shooting. After the incident, Mr. Saiwai reportedly contacted the authorities to report what had transpired and awaited their arrival.

Details surrounding the nature of the dispute between the father and son remain unclear, as neither family members nor neighbours were prepared to disclose any information regarding the argument. Local officials stated that the investigation is ongoing, with authorities focusing on the domestic aspects of the incident.

The police released Mr. Saiwai on bail, after questioning, but he did not returned home and did not intend to attend his son's funeral.

As a gun owner, I never pickup any of my guns when I am upset.

Sometimes, I guess this might be the best outcome....but more often than not in Thailand, (and elsewhere) many people should never be trusted with a gun!
